I don't have gamecast and I dont have a TV feed so I am going off of a box score and your commentary. Very confused right now...

Putz threw a pitch that didn't come close to hitting Maldonado. The catcher dropped it, and Maldy 'sold' it by grasping his hand. He was awarded first base.

HErrera stole 3rd base, and Gibson 'challenged' that he was out. It was very very close, and the replay concluded that he was safe (good no call, IMO)..

Gibson came out to argue the result of the replay, and got immediately tossed.

Which part?

In the 8th inning, Ramirez pretty clearly went around on strike 3 that would have ended the inning...but the first base ump said he checked. Next pitch he hits a 2 run double.

Now in the 9th. Maldonado didn't appear to be HBP, but was awarded 1b. Pretty obviously missed him. Gibson came out and argued but went back to the dugout and Maldy stayed at first. Then Herrera stole 3b. He was clearly safe but his foot came off the base and it was close at that point. Gibson, even though out of challenges, comes out to argue and gets them to review it. This takes 4-5 minutes and the call stands - this one was pretty close. Personally, I think he was out. But it wasn't overly clear and the call stood. Would have been the third out of the inning. Gibson comes back out and immediately gets ejected. Gennett follows with a RBI single and Braun tacks on a 2 run double.

So basically, two calls went in our favor - the Ramirez one was especially bad IMO. So we could have had zero runs in both innings and wound up with 6.

Good on Ryan for hustling on that one! Should be at third base, & he is!

If that was Puig he would still be doing his bat flip

Pff.....

I love the finger point after the bat toss.. the ball going as far as the warning track absolutely tops it off. :laughing

How does a Mark Reynolds not get known for his defense over a a long career? I mean he's been amazing this season and we keep hearing how it was some big secret that he's really good in the field. Not sure how that goes unnoticed. He's really good.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That assumes the following hitters wouldn't have lead off with hits.

huh?? Yes, I realize the rest of the game maybe plays out differently if Ramirez is called out on strikes. But that was a pretty obviously missed call and the very next pitch resulted in runs. I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here?

Ridiculous Gibson. the officials in NY spent 4+ minutes looking at it and decided he's safe. what is there to argue?

Gibson had been barking at the home plate ump for several innings and I just think he was frustrated and didn't give a rip about being tossed at that point in the game.
