2014-06-14 Brewers (Gallardo) vs. Reds (Latos) [Brewers win, 4-2]

LouisEly

As far as the Cardinals go, in the last 6 games, they've pitched 4 shutouts, 1 1-run game, and one game they got beat quite easily (too lazy to look it up). They won two separate 1-0 games, and a 4-1 game. It's not as if their offense has suddenly figured it out. It's more that their pitching has been flat-out dominate for an entire week.

I was also at the game tonight and the Brewers hit several balls hard that just simply didn't fall. Hopefully that's a good thing.

Braun really is struggling with his niggly injuries. He seems to hit best to right field now - less torque for the chest I guess... and less thumb snap. I think pulling the ball must be more stressful overall. And overall his power is sapped, it seems.

Unless Braun comes back to his former self, people will say all these years the PEDs kept him niggle free. It could be true. It may be a 100% guy with PED and an 80% guy without. As I noted before, I think giving him much more rest (like a short spring training, maybe a 15 day dl once a year when the first niggle comes, a few days off) we may end up with a 90% guy. We need to manage this for the next five years (at upward of 20 mill a year!)

the pirates are .500 now and the cardinals seem to be figuring out how to get clutch hits.... we're definitely going to have to keep winning series to stay in first like we have been the past couple weeks.

Pirate fans have to despise the Brewers even more than normal. Their terrible record vs the Brewers are the main reason they are only .500 instead of first place.

Niggle?

I wasn't going to be the one to ask. Is he trying to play off of nagging?

Latos is fairly annoying.

I was literally laughing out loud watching him get so mad at Scooter battling him on that 13 pitch AB and then getting a hit! LOL! He was barking and cussing up a storm. It was hilarious.

the results have been there but it's just far too stressful watching k rod. I would enjoy having a closer who is a flame thrower again soon. At least you know what to expect

[sarcasm]Because we knew exactly what to expect from Axford and Turnbow.[/sarcasm]
