2014-06-10 Brewers (Estrada) at Mets (Matsuzaka), 6:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 6-2]

Estrada needs to be the long man. It's that simple. He and

Duke can take turns going 2-3 innings a piece.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That ump squeezed Estrada. His strike zone made less than zero sense. Pure garbage.

Now please, someone who actually isn't even watching the game but following pitches on some internet nonsense tell me that wasn't the case.

All of the close pitches were in the same spot. He has to realize the ump is not calling that pitch a strike, and find a different location.

I really dislike Estrada right now. Seriously. It's just gopher ball after gopher ball. And he makes it worse by walking guys prior to hrs. And this is a team that doesn't hr much playing in a huge park yet he still figured out how to give up a couple and lose the game for us. How long do we have to keep using him in a starting role????

Good evening, everybody. :)

I have to agree with everybody else. It's time for Estrada to lose his starting spot in the rotation. The only question is, how long until Ron gets around to doing it?

I'm not watching the game, as I'm about to eat dinner. But what's wrong with Braun? His average has dropped about 25 points in the last six games. Is he making decent contact? Or, is he looking like he needs time off again?

The home run was not the problem. The three straight walks before the grand slam were.

Pretty much this. You can't walk the bases loaded and then not expect bad things to happen. Estrada's homeruns allowed weren't a big issue until the last few, because suddenly he's walking guys. Of the first 17 homers he allowed this year, 13 were solo shots, and 4 had one runner on. The last 3 were a 2 run homer, a 3 run homer, and a granny. You can't walk guys AND be a flyball pitcher.

In the last Pittsburgh game 2 of his outs were absolute rockets, and he had a line drive out tonight. Some of his outs have been of the 'bad luck' variety. I'm sure a day off wouldn't hurt though.

very likely that him starting to walk more batters is directly correlated to him realizing that when he throws strikes, he gives up alot of HR.

Estrada's effective by deception - when his stuff stops being deceiving and hitters lay off his changeup and force him to get them out with strikes, he's been getting shelled.

Would also be nice if the cardinals would give up a run or two...on the verge of yet another shutout.

As far as when rr makes the switch...probably not until August. I just have zero faith in us to let Nelson have a shot unless Estrada gets hurt or becomes completely awful.

This has clearly happened lately. He is rarely getting swings at change ups out of the zone. BA has mentioned it several times even.

Surprised Bert Blylevyn isn't on this list. I looked.

I agree with you, but my fingers are crossed they give Nelson a shot. They don't have the luxury to leave Marco in the rotation and hope he figures it out like they did last year. If they weren't leading the central this year I might give him some more slack, but a move has to be made.

I understand that Estrada is not doing well tonight and I should say up front that I have not seen most of the game. But, our approach at the plate that I just witnessed is TERRIBLE. In the inning Braun, Aram, and Davis all struck out. Striking out is one thing but swinging at pitches WAY out of the zone is awful. I understand with 2 strikes you have to protect the plate but with anything less than two you don't have to swing at pitches as your ankles or your eyeballs. I have never seen a team beat itself as much as this year's team does. I realize that they are in first place but these games when they beat themselves will come back to bite them over time.
