That was much more Braun-like.

Braun has such high standard. I mean he is batting over .310 and has 33 RBI's which is close to leading the team (even after missing 14 games)and it still seems like everyone thinks he is not having a good year.

I look at OPS a lot more than conventional statistics, I don't pay much attention to batting average and hardly any to RBI, but you're right, over the course of the year he's still sitting pretty close to his career norms at .895 right now.

Thanks. Someone else that sees that Braun is playing very close to his career norms. I guess the media likes to start things and I shouldn't listen

People are looking for things with Braun that just aren't there. It's June 7th. Elite hitters have rough 7 game stretches over the courses of every season.

The other day someone referred to him as a 'high priced decoy'. A .900 OPS is not a decoy.

Just checking...we won? I couldn't tell from the thread.

Great win. Sometimes when I hear people talk about Braun and how he is playing you would think he is having a bad season like Matt Kemp. Wonder what is happening with Kemp. He was a great player

I'll admit I've been a little hard on him. I have to remind myself that he's still producing and having a good season, despite missing the majority of the previous season.

Braun could be having one of his best seasons, we really don't know what he's dealing with. For him to be hurt, and yet make some substantial adjustments to still OPS around 900, that's quite impressive. It also makes him have some ugly ABs, but it's impressive how productive he is while battling injuries.

And it can't be fun to hear cat calls and god knows what else everywhere outside of Milw and Miami. It gets rather old. Fans of other teams treat him like he's a child molester for crying out loud - like he's the first guy to ever take a PED and then lie about it. :rolleyes

Part of the problem with Braun for those who have watched him nearly every day for his whole career is that he just doesn't look good. He very rarely pulls the ball with authority and he seems to be making more bad swings than usual. At times he seems to be guessing at pitches, possibly trying to compensate for not being able to get around as quickly. Who knows if it's the thumb, the muscle problem, aging, or the effects of not taking PED's.

If I didn't see the numbers, but just watched his AB's, I would not think he was producing as well as he is. He's just such a good natural hitter that he still squeezes out a lot of hits even when he isn't in a good groove. When he is struggling for a week, he seems to go 6 or 7 for 25 when a lot of other guys would be 1 or 2 for 25.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
