AUDIO - via Jeff Hem's blog

"Today’s interview is with right-hander Taylor Jungmann, who gave up one unearned run in 6 1/3 innings last night in the Sounds’ victory. It was Jungmann’s second quality start in as many starts as a Sound, and he discusses his time at Triple-A so far, the dominant division-champion Double-A Huntsville team with which he began the year, and some of the adjustments he’s made the past few years since coming to pro ball after a decorated college career at University of Texas."

Huge night for Arcia 4-5 with a double and his first HR, pushes his OPS over .700 for the season. If he stays anywhere as close to as hot as he has been the last 2 weeks he might start pushing his way into a debate over the top 4 prospects.

Wasn't expecting much from Bradley after being sick and not pitching for over a week and a half. Viramontes must have been sick as well because tonight is the first time he's pitched since 5/17. If it's the same bug I had, it had me down for a week.

Final: DSL Angels 4, DSL Brewers 11

DSL Brewers Box Score

Nicolas Pierre and Franly Mallen each cracked their first home runs of the season in the Brewers win. Pierre finished the day going 3-for-5 with a double and a home run. He stole a base, knocked in two runs and scored three. Mallen drew a walk to go with his homer and also scored three runs. Yeraldy Martinez moved up to the three spot and reached base in four of five trips to the plate. He singled twice, tripled and drew a walk while scoring a pair of runs. Johel Atencio and Juan De Los Santos singled and doubled while De Los Santos also drew a walk. Third baseman Roosevert Chal also picked up a pair of hits in his 2014 debut.

20-year-old Rodrigo Benoit started the game for the Brewers and went 4.2 innings, allowing three runs, but only one earned. He was relieved by 19-year-old Melvin Tejada who tossed the final 4.1 innings in his second appearance of the season, allowing a run on just two hits.

Outfielder Joantgel Segovia, who had three hits in his first seven at bats, was out of the lineup today after leaving yesterday's game early. It might be nothing for the 17-year-old Venezuelan, but worth keeping an eye on.

Brevard County second baseman Orlando Arcia, seen here in a game from earlier this season, went 4-for-5 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBI on Tuesday night at Charlotte Sports Park. However, the Manatees dropped the series finale, 6-4 to the Charlotte Stone Crabs. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography)

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Though they climbed out of an early hole, the Brevard County Manatees could not overcome the Charlotte Stone Crabs in a 6-4 loss on Tuesday night at Charlotte Sports Park.

After the teams traded runs in the first four innings, Brevard County (29-28) and Charlotte (28-28) were tied at 4-4. That score held until the sixth when the Stone Crabs took the lead and did not look back.

Charlotte's Patrick Leonard led off the inning with a walk and Justin O'Conner singled to put runners on the corners. With one out, Kes Carter delivered the go-ahead run against Manatees' starting pitcher Tyler Wagner, as his sacrifice fly put the Stone Crabs ahead, 5-4.

Marty Gantt gave the Stone Crabs insurance the next inning. Gantt led off the seventh with a solo shot off of Jose De La Torre, to give Charlotte a 6-4 lead.

The Manatees had their chances, but could not capitalize. Perhaps their best opportunity was taken away from them by the right fielder Gantt on a stellar defensive play in the sixth.

With the game still tied, Nicky Delmonico led off of third and Yadiel Rivera was at the plate with two outs. Rivera roped a shot down the right field line, but Gantt sprinted over and made a diving catch to end the inning.

After the Stone Crabs took their 5-4 lead, the 'Tees had another chance to tie or take the lead in the seventh. Orlando Arcia hit a one-out single and Tyrone Taylor walked, then both runners moved up to on a soft ground ball back to the pitcher. Brevard had runners on second and third with two outs, but Charlotte reliever Parker Markel struck out Michael Reed to end the inning.

The 'Tees later brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but nothing came of it. Arcia ripped a two-out double to right-center against Ryan Garton. That brought Taylor to the plate, but Garton induced a game-ending pop-out to record his second save of the season.

Wagner (4-4, 2.29 ERA) was saddled with the loss. He allowed five runs - four earned - over 5.2 innings of work. Wagner surrendered seven hits, walked three and struck out two.

Despite the loss, Arcia had a spectacular day at the plate. The second baseman finished with four hits in five trips to the plate. He homered, doubled, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice.

The 'Tees dropped three out of four in Port Charlotte, and will return home for a four-game series against the Bradenton Marauders (30-28), beginning on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. Austin Ross (4-0, 2.95) is the scheduled to get the start for Brevard County against John Kuchno (3-4, 4.09) for the Marauders.

Brevard County Box Score

Orlando Arcia raised his average from .258 to .271 with his performance tonight and fell just a triple short of the cycle. Yadiel Rivera doubled and drew a walk and Tyrone Taylor picked up his 22nd double of the season.

Brevard County Play-By-Play

Brevard County Top of the 3rd

Yadiel Rivera hits a ground-rule double (5) on a line drive to left field.

Nathan Orf grounds out, pitcher Bruedlin Suero to second baseman Thomas Coyle to first baseman Patrick Leonard. Yadiel Rivera to 3rd.

Orlando Arcia homers (1) on a fly ball to left field. Yadiel Rivera scores.

Tyrone Taylor flies out to right fielder Marty Gantt.

Cameron Garfield pops out to third baseman Tyler Goeddel in foul territory.

Final: @Jackson 9, Huntsville 6

Stars Drop Three Straight

Steve Jarnicki, Huntsville Stars

Jackson, TN - The Jackson Generals jumped on Huntsville Stars lefty Jed Bradley early as they went on to defeat the Stars 9-6 Tuesday night at The Ballpark At Jackson. The Generals (25-33) won their third straight and sent the Stars (39-20) to their third straight loss.

Bradley (0-1), who was making his Double-A debut, gave up a two-run double to Patrick Kivlehan in the first inning. Kivelhan finished 3-4 with 2 RBI on three doubles.

Jason Rogers got the Stars on the scoreboard in the second inning. He swung at the first pitch from Jackson starter Victor Sanchez and homered over the center field wall. Rogers homered for the fifth time and it brought the Stars within a run at 2-1.

The Generals took a 4-1 lead in the third inning. With runners at second and third base with one out, John Hicks hit a groundball to first baseman Nick Ramierz. Ramirez threw to catcher Adam Weisenburger. Ramirez's throw went off Weisenburger's glove scoring Kivlehan and Manny Pina.

The Stars bounced back in the fourth inning to score twice. Shawn Zarraga doubled home Mitch Haniger. D'Vontrey Richardson then scored Zarraga on a sacrifice fly.

With the Stars trailing 4-3 going into the bottom of the fourth, the Generals scored two more against Bradley. Pina and Pizzano came up with back-to-back run-producing hits extending Jackson's lead to 6-3.

Bradley pitched four innings allowing six runs (four earned) on nine hits.

The Stars tried to chip away at the 6-3 deficit in the fifth when Kentrail Davis scored on a fielding error by center fielder Jamal Austin. Austin dropped a fly ball off the bat of Haniger. The Generals lead was down to 6-4.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Generals scored their final three runs which turned out to be the difference in the game. With runners at first and second with one out, Austin bunted up the third baseline. Weisenburgerpicked it up and threw wildly down the right field line scoring Jack Marder.

With the Generals leading 7-4, Dan Paolini singled through the right side off second baseman Greg Hopkins's glove scoring a pair of runs.

The Stars tried to make one final comeback late in the game. In the eighth, Weisenburger reached on an infield single which scored Zarraga.

Then in the ninth, with two outs, Rogers doubled off the center field wall scoring Davis making it 9-6. The Generals then made a pitching change bringing in their closer Stephen Kohlscheen.

Kohlscheen got Haniger to fly out to left field on one pitch to end the ballgame earning his fifth save.

Kyle Hunter (1-1) earned the win out of the Generals bullpen.

Sanchez, the Jackson starter, lasted four innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits.

Weisenburger led the Stars offense going 3-4 with an RBI. Rogers had a 2-5 night with 2 RBI.

With the win, Jackson guaranteed themselves a series victory over the Stars. Jackson had lost eight consecutive series prior to their series win over the Stars. Meanwhile, the Stars seven-series winning streak is over. Jackson became just the second team all season in twelve series to take a series from the Stars.

Jackson leads the Stars 3-1 in their five game series. The Stars will attempt to salvage the final game on Wednesday afternoon. RHP Andy Moye (1-0, 0.77) will start for the Stars. Jackson's starter is RHP Trevor Miller (4-5, 4.08). Wednesday's game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 11:50 AM CDT and will be an internet only broadcast on wtkiradio.com.

Huntsville Box Score

Not the AA debut Jed Bradley was hoping for; Adam Weisenburger would gladly give up his three hits in this one if he could lose the three errors as well...

Arcia is viewed as more of a long term SS than 2B right? Perhaps he is the guy that could move Segura over to 2nd in a couple years. From everything I know if Arcia is at least competent with the bat he will make the big leagues because his glove is so good. It looks like he has at least some ability. It is crazy that he is so young; if he continues to progress he could be in the big leagues when he is 21.

Bradley start in AA is disappointing but if he really was that sick he probably lost some weight and needs some additional time to recover.

I know Roache also got sick for a while there but man has he been a disappointment. Get it together young man.
