Just an immense win. This was shaping up to be one of the most frustrating losses I can remember. Seems like I had just finished cursing Roenicke out for putting the winning run on base when Showalter did the same. Not going to lie, I was more confident with Gallardo up to bat than I would have been with Falu or Herrera up.

The thing with Yo is that he's not a very good hitter...but he DOES have some power. While unlikely, there was the small threat of him actually connecting with one - something that Herrera and Falu really don't have.

If you haven't watched from the Orioles POV on MLB.tv do it.

Ooo, good idea. I need to do that.

Wow, Jim Hunter did not sound happy at all, lol. I especially like him reading the promo for tomorrow's game. "against Yovani Gallardo, the guy who just got the game winning hit".

That was great!

Holy crap, that ending was both glorious and hilarious. HE'S OUR PITCHER. :)

That was one of the most interesting games I've attended in a while. It was a nice surprise to wind up just three seats away from whizkid. I'm happy this was one of the games you caught this year.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

So I really thought this game was a season killer with a loss...we win, on a walkoff by Gallardo of all people...is this a game that turns the tide and sparks us to go on a big run?

I sure hope so. It ain't fun having the Cards breathing down our necks right now.

I have a perma-grin still! I fell asleep, woke up to Joe Block recap, pulled up highlights, went to bed happy. How cool was that win???!!!! I agree, I hope this sparks us! We have to stop throwing games away. I can't handle it!!!!

So when's the last time a starting pitcher had a PH walkoff?

MLB Network said 1990 last night.

I was at the game and I literally sat in my seat in shock and disbelief; when Yo connected, I thought it was gone.

Amazing way to get that one back!

Rusch definitely had a walk off squeeze bunt as a PH. There was no out on the play, so I assume it went in the books as a single.

The last extra base hit was 1990, that's what MLB network said at least.

Yovani Gallardo's career batting line:

.204/.232/.353/.575 in 424 PA's, 51 wRC+

Jeff Bianchi's career batting line:

.214/.249/.281/.530 in 386 PA's, 42 wRC+

The walk to Reynolds is understandable; I haven't thought through the numbers myself but I don't think it was that silly just because of his HR%. What really would have made this great is if they would have walked a Maldonado or Bianchi type.

Thanks, my brother had asked about the last XBH saying that was a more interesting question. I remember Rusch's hit. It was scored a single although he popped up the bunt and was lucky it fell where it did.
