Doesn't look like Huntsville media notes and interviews will be available online this season. That will likely be rectified next season in Biloxi.

Steve Jarnicki does put together media notes daily, we will pass along tidbits as we can --

The Stars were playing just their second rubber match of the season and they stayed undefeated as they are now 2-0 in rubber matches….With the series victory in Montgomery, the Stars won their 9th series in the first ten series of the season. It was their sixth straight series win, as the last time they lost a series was April 19-23 at home against Mobile…

RHP Tommy Toledo, who earned his first Double-A win Sunday, pitched twice against the Biscuits, logging five innings and struck out nine hitters...The Stars bullpen threw five scoreless frames last night as they’ve now thrown 11 straight scoreless innings…

Jason Rogers had three RBI as it was his 6th multiple RBI game. In the month of May, Rogers is now hitting .315 with 2 HR and 17 RBI after hitting .242 with 1 HR and 12 RBI in 25 games in April…D’Vontrey Richardson had two more RBI Sunday. In his final two games in Montgomery, he went 5-8 with three RBI. He has seven RBI now in his last seven games and has raised his batting average from .212 up to .234 during this span…Kentrail Davis singled in the 4th inning which extended his hitting streak to eight straight games. During the streak he is 13-30 (.433, 1 HR, 4 RBI, hit for the cycle as well during this streak). His hitting streak is currently the third longest active streak in the Southern League… Nick Shaw did not play yesterday but on Saturday, extended his on base streak to 19 straight games with a single in the first inning. His on base streak which began on April 30th, is currently the longest active streak in the Southern League. Shaw is batting .282 with 5 RBI and has 15 walks during his streak.

AUDIO via Jeff Hem's blog --

"Today’s interview is this week’s installment of “Mondays with the Manager” with Sounds manager Rick Sweet, who discusses the team’s performance over the past week, the Brewers’ call-up of Sounds infielder Irving Falu, the joy a manager gets in telling a player he’s going to the big leagues and the play of first baseman Hunter Morris so far this season."

Tom Haudricourt's Sunday notes column leads off with a nice conversation with Minor League Pitching Coordinator Rick Tomlin.

Read the entire piece, but we also wish RHP Jorge Lopez well --

"Lopez is a young kid who has been going through a little thing with his baby son, who has had medical problems. But he's a fine-looking prospect."

Get ready for the resumption of play and a 7-inning game on Tuesday

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

CLINTON, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had a 2-0 lead over the Clinton LumberKings on Monday at Ashford University Field. But, a heavy downpour and a steady downpour in the top of the fourth inning forced a suspension of play until Tuesday evening.

The teams will resume Monday's game on Tuesday at 5:00pm. The regularly scheduled game will be a seven-inning game and will start approximately thirty minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game.

Sounds Shut Out In Road Trip Finale, 3-0

Nashville Sounds

METAIRIE, La. - A pair of New Orleans hurlers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Zephyrs blanked the Nashville Sounds, 3-0, on Monday afternoon in the finale of a four-game series.

Z's left-hander Brian Flynn (5-3) held the Sounds to four singles over eight scoreless innings to earn the victory. The southpaw issued one walk and struck out three Nashville batters. Chaz Roe inherited a pair of baserunners in the ninth but work flawlessly out of the jam to complete the shutout.

The Sounds (27-25), who suffered their second shutout defeat of the year, lost three of the four games to the Z's, only the third losing series for Nashville in 13 series this season.

Eugenio Velez, Hector Gomez, and Sean Halton produced the four Nashville hits in the game. Velez extended his hitting streak to a season-best six games with a 2-for-4 afternoon.

New Orleans struck first, grabbing a 1-0 lead against Mike Fiers in the third inning when Juan Diaz hit a leadoff double and later scored on a Josh Rodriguez sacrifice fly.

The Sounds had a chance to tie the game in the fourth. Gomez singled and attempted to score standing up on Halton's double into the right field corner but was tagged out a half-step before reaching the plate.

The Z's doubled their lead to 2-0 in the sixth when Rodriguez led off with a bunt single, was sacrificed to second, and scored on Jake Marisnick's RBI single to left.

Fiers (6-2) suffered his second loss of the year despite working his seventh quality start. He allowed two runs on five hits while striking out seven batters and walking none in his six-inning, 90-pitch effort.

Left-hander Brent Leach took over on the Nashville hill in the seventh and was greeted by a Brian Bogusevic opposite-field homer to left-center. The outfielder's first big fly of the year upped the New Orleans lead to 3-0.

The Sounds did not have an at-bat with a runner in scoring position until the ninth inning.

In the final frame, Pete Orr drew a leadoff walk from Flynn and moved to second on a Velez single, which chased Flynn from the contest. Roe took over on the hill and popped up Gomez, induced a fielder's choice from Caleb Gindl, and retired Halton on a game-ending flyout to secure the shutout and nail down his third save of the season.

The Sounds begin an eight-game homestand tomorrow evening at Greer Stadium. Right-hander Michael Blazek (0-3, 5.33) will take the hill for Nashville in Tuesday's 7:05 p.m. opener of a four-game series against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Left-hander Tyler Matzek (4-2, 3.70) will provide the opposition.

Nashville Boxscore

Mike Fiers did what he does and the rest isn't worth discussing, just an ugly offensive game.

Final: @Huntsville 5, Tennessee 4

Stars Walk Off On Rogers RBI Double

Huntsville, AL - The Huntsville Stars rallied Monday afternoon in the bottom of the ninth, to defeat the Tennessee Smokies 5-4 in game one of their five game series at Joe Davis Stadium.

With the Stars trailing 4-3 going into the bottom of the ninth, Josh Prince started the inning against P.J Francescon by singling into centerfield. Nick Shaw advanced Prince to second on a sacrifice bunt. Prince advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Nick Ramirez scored Prince on a sacrifice fly tying the game at 4-4.

D'Vontrey Richardson drew a walk and then stole second base. With the game tied at 4-4 with two outs, Jason Rogers drove a pitch to deep left field. John Andreoli couldn't catch up to the ball against the wall, scoring Richardson, giving Rogers his second game winning hit of the season.

The Stars trailed 3-0 early. Kris Bryant homered to deep left center against Stars starter Tyler Cravy. It was Bryant's league leading 14th home run of the season.

Tennessee then took a 3-0 lead in the second inning. With runners at second and third base, Wes Darvill hit a ground ball to second baseman Greg Hopkins. Hopkins misplayed the ball and the error allowed Jay-Hoon Ha to score. Jeudy Valdez also had a sacrifice fly in the inning.

Cravy, who took a no decision, pitched six innings allowing three runs, one of which was earned, on three hits. He also struck out six.

The Stars mounted their comeback in the fifth inning against Smokies starter Joel Pineiro. Ramirez launched his ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot to deep right cutting the deficit to 3-2.

Mitch Haniger then tied the game in the sixth inning on a solo home run.

Pineiro took a no decision pitching 6.1 innings and giving up three runs on eight hits.

Arcenio Leon picked up the win out of the Stars bullpen improving to 2-0. Francescon suffered the loss, dropping to 5-3.

Ramirez finished 2-4 with 3 RBI. Shaw, Richardson and Haniger also had two hits for the victorious Stars.

The Stars are now 34-17 with the win, while the Smokies drop to 26-24.

The Stars and Smokies play game two of their series Tuesday night at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville. RHP Drew Gagnon (4-1, 2.35) will start for the Stars. Tennessee will have RHP Corey Black (2-4, 3.70) on the mound. Tuesday's game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 6:15 PM CDT on 92.9 FM, 1450 AM and wtkiradio.com.

Huntsville Box Score

Stars now have a 7.5 game lead over Tennessee, and the magic number is all the way down to 12. Each win in this series drops the number by two games.

Shawn Zarraga is only 5-for-his-last-30 to "drop" his average to .349. Even in that rough stretch, he's walked seven times and fanned only twice, but BABIP can be a streaky thing (both ways).
