Loved how the strike zone expanded about two feet once a position player took to the mound

Wicked movement & a reputation for painting the corners for Lyle

Brewers should start Maldonado tomorrow.

Is it just me or does Ryan Doumit's eyes look black? I always thought he looked like he has no soul

You know the thing about a Doumit's eyes, he's got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white.

My friends and I have always called him hypnotoad.

So our LH bat off the bench has actually hit poorly enough this season that he didn't look out of place as a pitcher at the plate tonight. Our backup SS/Util guy can't hit, our second UTIL guy can't hit... but he can't hit from both sides of the plate so there's that, not one of our 4th OF candidates is well rounded enough to help free up a roster spot elsewhere, we're platooning two IF positions, and Wang is so far from being big-game ready that he's only used when RRR feels he doesn't have any other options... and then he's shelled.

Pretty solid roster construction this season.

when's gorzelanny going to be back healthy? got to think when he's ready to come back the Wang experiment might be done...injuries and poor approach have really turned this offense into a below average lot, and the pitching honestly isn't good enough to keep them winning without more run support - pitching's going to burn out at this rate. If Wang can't even get himself out of an inning he blows up because he throws too many pitches, he's not worth killing the rest of the pen because he's simply too far away from being a MLB pitcher

Wasn't his rehab assignment like 60 days? Gonna be a while yet I think. Could be Figaro maybe to come up, not sure there are a ton of options. Doubt they put a guy like Fiers whose throwing well into the pen.

Why wouldn't you, though? He isn't a better SP option than anyone up in the bigs, and is actually the second-best SP candidate in Nashville. His stuff is the definition of bullpen stuff in the bigs, & the Brewers could use the help right now.

I guess it would depend on if he's your first choice for a fill in starter if one is needed. If he's not then bullpen is an option. Better numbers and a little more experience led me to assume he'd be first in line.

So FS WI cuts off the interview with RRR before they ask a question about Wang................I mean seriously

I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to hear Jeff Grayson and Davey Nelson break down Wily's stellar start.

I finally got to see Wang pitch, his problems are all in his delivery, the rest of the tools are there.

You just aren't able to fall behind MLB hitters and constantly be in predictable FB counts, the ATL hitters were sitting on and crushing FBs in those counts. It's a tough lesson to be taught in MLB, he wouldn't have seen that sort of thing for the most part until AA, his 93 MPH FB would have blown by most A ball hitters.

If he could locate effectively he could be a decent MLB pitcher now but he doesn't and he didn't seem to be filled with a ton of confidence either as he wasn't letting those 90 MPH FBs go.

I like the raw stuff, it just needs a ton of seasoning at this point.

It's getting pretty frustrating. I really think (or maybe I simply hope) that Melvin is evaluating things and trying to come up with some options fast. It's hard to pin losses like this on Roenicke when he's so hamstrung right now.

The problem for Wang is he belongs in rookie or A ball, not in the bigs. I felt bad for the kid, frankly. Yes, his confidence must be in the toilet. I can understand holding onto a player like this if we were below .500. Because of our bullpen situation RR had to put Wang out there to get shellacked thus throwing away any chance we had of winning that game last night. Melvin has to decide - does he want to squander a potential playoff year by keeping this kid on the roster? Or does he send Wang down with the real possibility of Pitt taking him back. Having this young man literally rot on our roster is screwing up other areas. If he wasn't there we might have another legit arm in the pen or another bat on the bench while Aramis nurses his hammy :(

I think it just not Wang hamstring this team. Yes none of our Backup OF have shown any offensive abilty to hit on a Constant Basis. Our Bench has to be one of the worst in Baseball team can't bunt to save their Lives and we have a 37 year old 1st who just can't hit anymore. I sorry dont see this team as a solid Contender

Why on God's earth to you trot out Wang only down by 1?

Just one more loss that can be pinned squarely on the shoulders of RRR... They keep adding up, year after year, yet he is still our "manager."

According to fangraphs, the Brewers had a 11.9 pct chance of winning when Wang came in. Probably less if you adjust for Kimbrel vs. the bottom of a bad order. Tough to pin a loss on a manager when it was a pretty long shot to begin with.

We also don't know what the situation is with Smith and Thornburg. RR may have felt it was better to rest them versus using them on a low pct chance to win and the side benefit of forcing them to use Kimbrel.
