Maybe - it depends on who they have in their bullpen. The Brewers haven't looked good against him and his pitch count is only 86, so I'd be inclined to stick with him for at least 1 more batter.

Ordinarily, giving up 3 runs isn't that bad, but with this lineup, getting to the George Webb required 5 runs (I've never eaten there, are they any good?) is like asking for the impossible.

Isn't Gomez batting like .500 when swinging at the first pitch? You are right of course that he doesn't HAVE to swing at it, but I'd probably at least wait till the average drops below .400 before counseling for him to change anything. Heck, the argument could be made that he SHOULD swing at every first pitch UNTIL his average falls below .400.
