2014-05-06 Diamondbacks (Collmenter) at Brewers (Estrada), 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 7-5]

Hmm, apparently MLB.tv is on a few second delay. Sorry, guys.

This justifies everyone on the IGT yesterday questioning why Smith was used with a 5 run lead.

I am sorry but RR is an idiot. Two questionable pitching moves involving Smith have played large roles in 2 loses for this team in the last week.

You have to admit, you can forgive the prior loss with Kintzy in the one run game. Mind you, the guys is coming off the DL, so maybe you want to SEE HIM one or two times.

But this is developing in an Axey scenario where Ron will keep doing the same over and over... costing us.

And, the game before we are using our best reliever in a FIVE RUN LEAD GAME.

So, whereas the beginning of the year Ron was making decisions on 'form'. Now Ron has gone back to 'panic mode' (using Smith in a five run game... must win) and 'buddy mode' (let me show faith in Kintzy).

Geez

I agree. Nevermind that we've scored 13 runs in the last two games, our offense is not humming along right now. We are going to have a hard time overcoming a two run deficit late in the game. We can't afford to be making head-scratching decisions like that.

Will Smith did not "need work" in a blowout game. He needs to be saved for tight games.

Great, now he brings in Wang? I guess he's just conceded this game. Good Lord, Roenicke is really making some questionable decisions.

And now because Ron has NO IDEA what to do, we will see Wang. So, I guess the rules are

- any deficit = Wang

- any lead = Smith

- any 8th = Kintzler

At least I know how it is working now

Well Kintzler has been a good reliever since the start of last year; easy to criticize after he has a bad game. We all knew the time would eventually come when the bullpen blows a game.

People were complaining that Thornburg, Smith, and Krod were being used to much and now they are complaining when they weren't used over a perfectly competent set up man in Kintzler. He had a bad game; it happens.

Are we really bringing in Wang for a game we're losing by 2 runs?

Sadly, yes. Ron apparently doesn't think we can make up two runs.

Ron, this loss is on you. Completely. You get a 5 run lead before the other team even comes to the plate, that's a game you should win every time against an 11-24 team. Every time!

He's not a competent set-up man. He's a 6th or 7th inning kind of guy.

Fondy, I understand your thinking. And normally I would agree with you. But Kintzler just came off the DL a little over a week ago, and he's a sinker ball pitcher that hasn't been able to get the ball down since returning. A sinker ball pitcher getting the ball up in the zone is a nightmare scenario with a one run lead.

I feel bad for Brandon, but it was the wrong decision putting him into that situation.

And now, the DBacks have two men on with one out.

Never mind that the offense has been completely inept again and probably should have been limited to only 1 run in the first inning; this loss is totally on RR. Its not like Estrada and Kintzler didn't serve up gopher balls or anything. Figures as soon as the bullpen blows a game the manager gets immediately blamed for everything.

Bases loaded now. Ouch. Surprised they held the runner at third. He had a clear run with that throw.
