2014-04-08 Brewers (Lohse) at Phillies (Kendrick), 3:05 PM CDT [Brewers win, 10-4; 3 HR for Braun]

I'm not inclined to gripe too much with a 5-2 start coming off a win, but when you just got done publicly saying you need to get a guy in the game and you can't find a way to do it up 6 runs with 2 innings to go you are completely asking for it without mercy.

I guess I'd rather our "shaky spring training" 2013 closer got the work in, rather than a Rule 5 "garbage time" guy, frankly.

There was no reason Wang couldn't pitch the 8th. Instead he sent out Kintzler again.

Can't wait until the next time the Brewers have a 6 run lead in a near empty stadium so Wang can makes his debut!

This is why I think Wang won't end up working. He's going to go weeks without pitching to any live hitters.

Ok, this is just my opinion, but this is what I thought during the game. I guessed we wouldn't see Wang because of the wind today. In a normal game, up 6, he would have gone in there. I think there was too much potential there to have a few things go wrong and then him serve up a bomb and then all the sudden they are back in it. I was hoping to see him today, but I actually think it was smart not to throw him out there. I'm hoping we get him out there soon though, the bullpen needs to spread the love a little more.

Other thoughts. Duke is bad. Braun is good. I like having a guy like Reynolds on the team who can hit a ball hard at any point.

This team is really exciting me. I'm already fired up for tomorrow!

You could read the lips of the young man (in a Phillies hat & red hoodie) who came away with that third Braun HR ball in the LF bleachers -- other fans were imploring him to throw it back... he shook his head 'no', & said, "It's RYAN BRAUN".

I can't see any logical fan throwing any ball back at any game if they were lucky enough to get it, especially one with a name attached to it. Closest I ever got was one going off the tip of my fingers. What good would it be to be the guy who can only say "Oh, I caught Braun's third home run in a game and threw it back"?

If I catch an opposing team's home run ball, ever, I'm immediately handing it to the nearest sub-10 year old kid I see.

Any ball I catch, I keep... It was easier when my kids were little, we'd get balls at Timber Rattler games, and then I'd hand it to one of my kids, and the crowd would be fine with it. I have never got a ball without my kids there, so I don't know what would happen... I'd want to keep it for my son, but would look bad for not giving it to a little random kid...

^ yup.

Back in the day, they were the only fans dumb enough to throw away an authentic real live major league baseball game used souvenir...

Their loss.

I got one once and handed it to my GF of the time. It settled the crowd nicely, as they were starting to chant, "give it to the kid, give it to the kid."

It was the first and only ball I have ever gotten so I wasn't about to hand it to someone random.
