I don't understand how Gennett is viewed as a possible full time 2b. He just doesn't impress me at all.

I don't know but maybe the .324 batting average in 200+ AB last year

And Mike Trout hit .220/.281/.390 in his first year. Small sample size. I take last year's numbers with a grain of salt. The dude doesn't walk, and pitchers won't be afraid to pitch to him because he has no power. His minor league numbers aren't all that impressive, a very empty .300.

Not to break up this pity party here, but I was really impressed with Estrada showing some guts today without his best stuff. Gomez is looking even better than last year, not only is he hitting the ball hard, but he's showing some patience. They're outplaying the defending WS champs in their home opener and if you read this thread you'd think they were down 10. The clutch hits will fall in eventually.

I find it hard to believe they're outplaying Boston right now. For the lack of situational hitting the Brewers have right now, the Red Sox aren't that bad today. Marco threw well, Luc and Gomez are having good days at the plate, other than that, this isn't very good. You're not going to win many games when your lineup is 5 strong. Our 6-8 hitters, 9 with the DH, haven't done anything to get anyone excited.

The sox top 3 hitters have 1 hit. 1 for 9. The Sox have 4 hits overall. It's their home opener on the day they received rings. Plus Carp has looked lost in left. I would give an edge to the Brewers in terms of who has played better

We can just agree to disagree. I see value in Jim Gantner type hitters. Weeks isn't the answer and scooter is cheap. Give the guy a chance. (And keep spending money on pitching)

The pitcher has to miss the strike zone for him to walk. "No power?" Check the stats from last year. Hard to slug .479 in over 200 AB's with "no power".

Been almost 4 full games so far, and the Brewers have zero hits from their 1st baseman. For those asking if it could be worse than last year, well so far it is.

JB starts the bring back Yuni thread :)

No, Halton is my guy. Then again Yuni had a hot April last year, only he was playing 3B. :)

"it's only game four people"

They were completely out of it 50 games in last year. These games mean something.

Of course they do, but they also started 2-8 last year but finished April 14-11.

Yeah Yuni got hot if you recall and carried them for a couple weeks.....let's get some runs!

If they can win this game starting out 2-2 against the Braves and Red Sox would actually be pretty solid. I am ecstatic about the pitching thus far but we need the offense to start living up to its capability and get some darn hits with RISP.
