Henderson's velocity is down so KRod is the closer for now.

Well if that's the qualifying factor why is K-Rod closing? He's 90-91 with the FB these days... he just has experience, which is probably the determining factor.

Good way to start the season regardless.

Lucroy was really amazing today. Blocking balls in the dirt, framing pitches, calling a great game, refocusing Yo when he was starting to lose it. That one leaping grab he had of a Yo 91 mph fastball that got away was incredible. Very impressed with our catcher

K-Rod closing is certainly some proactive managing from RR. If he really felt K-Rod looked better than Henderson lately, I guess you have to respect the call. I'd rather this than trotting Henderson out there over and over because he's the "closer." I guess I'm just hoping RR isn't so enamored with K-Rod that he loses the flexibility to play matchups (not that he ever had THAT to begin with).

I think what I'm saying is that part of this move seems out of character and surprising (certainly not "by the book) but the other part displays that same reliance on veteran moxie. Not sure what to make of it yet.

Man, it's awesome to talk about baseball. I'm still impressed by Scooter's play in the ninth. Infield defense was very good today.

This. I thought when it happened, I don't know if Rickie gets to that. And just totally impressed with Scooter. His approach on his hit to left field was fantastic. What a great game!

You mean the one hopper 2 steps to his left, 25 feet on the OF grass?

Anyway, I'm worried that K-Rod closed. I'm worried that Overbay started. I'm worried that RRR brought Rickie off the bench to face a tough righty and the crowed booed him off the field.

I'm happy for 1-0. Baseball. Hooray!

Actually RR brought Weeks off the bench to face a lefty and, when he was announced, the Braves made a pitching change. At that point there were no lefties on the bench.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Man intense win today. I was really confused with the bullpen use but looking back I think I'm cool with it. K Rod looked good and if Jim isn't right, I like RRR realizing that and holding off on using him. Great start.

Great game and I for one am happy to see Ron make the decision to go with K-Rod. Maybe he has turned over a new leaf and won't do everything by the book this season. If there is something that they aren't happy with Henderson, don't bring him in and chance losing what was a very good looking game.

No, the one that bounced off of K-Rod's glove, and Scooter got to it, stepped on second and nearly turned the double play.

Side note, is this the fewest posts ever for opening day????

It might be, but I think a bunch of posters were at the game. I seem to never get much of a data signal inside the stadium on opening day, I suppose because of the extra large crowd, so I could not have navigated to Tapatalk.

I was happy to see a win and especially happy for weather that actually resembled spring. From our vantage point I thought the call on Aramis that clinched the double play was wrong and review-worthy. (To show that I am not merely a blind homer, I didn't have a problem with the review or the outcome of Ryan's play at first.)

From the first base side of the terrace box, we definitely heard some boos for Ryan. The S.O. estimated a 90/10 ratio of cheers to boos. The folks around us were clearly happily nostalgic for Lyle Overbay, based on the OOOOOOOO chants.

And good lord, the Hank factor. I saw people of all ages wearing Hank shirseys, and one fan wearing a Hank jersey. I'll say what I've said previously here and in other spots on the internets: I'm happy he's got a home now, but I hope he can resume a normal dog life soon.

I'm endlessly glad baseball is back, but by about 2:00 yesterday I realized how ready I was for a normal game with a more normal audience.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
