However, for Cravy's Huntsville batterymate, Adam Weisenburger, the news is not as good. Weisenburger suffered a broken index finger when he was pitched inside on a bunt attempt last Thursday.

 

We're working on confirming whether it was his throwing or catching hand. Either way, he'll be sidelined for a while.

For the moment, even after Hopkins' activation, the Stars have a 24-man roster and an 11-man pitching staff, so expect a pitcher to be added heading into the weekend.

 

The staff dropped to 11 after RHP Tyler Cravy's promotion to Nashville.

Per the Brewers' web site, Hiram Burgos will have season ending shoulder surgery. Tough break. His window of opportunity may be closing fast with all the other prospects the Brewers have now.

 

Reported by Adam McCalvy as a cleanup procedure on his right shoulder done Thursday afternoon, surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews.

 

The Brewers have not announced a recovery timetable for Burgos, who had a rough 6.50 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 18 innings (four starts) this season at Nashville.

As per @BrewersPD, Haniger lands on the DL now, no word on the nature or severity of his injury, either.

 

The Stars do get some reinforcements, as catcher Lucas May is activated off the Nashville disabled list and trransferred to Huntsville. He'll join Shawn Zarraga and Joey Paciorek as Stars' backstops.

 

Also joining the Stars is Jose Sermo, who has seen only OF action this season, but has infield experience from prior seasons.

 

Also, RHP Eric Marzec transfers (again) from Huntsville to Nashville.

 

Until we hear otherwise, these moves still leave the Stars one player short, and with only 11 pitchers.

ROSTER UPDATE: INF Yadiel Rivera has been transferred to Double-A Huntsville. Jose Sermo has been added to the Brevard County roster from Huntsville.

Rivera is hot right now, has benefited from an extra half-season at high-A, and the middle infielders at Huntsville now (Nick Shaw, Hainley Statia, some Josh Prince at second base) shouldn't impede his playing time with the Stars. Congrats to Yadiel.
