RHP Jeremy Jeffress added to the active roster in Nashville, catcher Matt Pagnozzi to the DL to make room.

(Robinzon Diaz and Lucas May will continue to share catching duties at AAA).

RHP Brooks Hall to the DL in Huntsville, replaced by RHP Tommy Toledo, up from Brevard County. RHP Greg Holle will replace Toledo on the Manatees' roster.

No word on the nature or severity of Hall's injury, let's hope it's minor. This will be the AA debut for the 25-year-old Toledo. Holle has been in limbo since an end-of-spring-training roster crunch.

RHP Johnny Hellweg goes under the Tommy John knife of Dr. Andrews today (Tuesday). We wish him well.

Where should a "Who will be added to the 40 man roster?" thread go now that Hellweg has visited Dr. Andrews?

Not sure what you mean, there is no necessity at this time to add anyone to the 40-man roster unless there is a player in the minor leagues not on the 40-man roster who is needed in Milwaukee (let's say, Maldonado gets hurt and the Brewers need to bring up Robinzon Diaz or Lucas May).

There is an extensive 40-man roster discussion thread on the Major League Forum here.

We asked Adam McCalvy to ask Gord Ash about RHP Brooks Hall, the 40-man roster Huntsville Star who left his last start after five shutout innings -- thanks, Adam.

The Double-A Huntsville Stars placed Brewers 40-man roster member Brooks Hall on the disabled list this week because of irritation in his right elbow caused by an attached bone fragment. Hall received a cortisone shot, assistant general manager Gord Ash said, and the Brewers hope to get him through the season before addressing the issue in the offseason.

It sounds like an Avulsion Fracture? This is a new one for me.

Most often, an avulsion fracture can be treated without surgery. Only when the avulsed fragment of bone is pulled more than several centimeters from its normal position does surgery need to be considered.

In addition, some avulsion fractures occur with such small pieces of bone, that often the fragment need not be fixed. For example, ankle sprains can often cause small avulsion fragments. These injuries can typically be treated as an ankle sprain, as the small piece of bone really does not affect the treatment decisions or outcome of the patient.

I shot my good friend who's an athletic trainer a note to ask, he's working with his orthopedics on their new concussion protocol so if he hasn't come across it the docs might have had some experience and will know.

edit. He just responded that it sounds like what happens in the ankle and is mostly called an Os Trigonum or possibly Myositis Ossificans both commonly treated with Iontophoresis and there is a drug which breaks down the bone that he can be used as well, but he didn't remember the name.

Via @BrewersPD -- (posted Thursday evening)

The Brewers have re-signed RHP Tim Dillard. He will join the Stars in time for their games tonight against Montgomery.

At Wisconsin, RHP Tyler Spurlin was placed on the DL today to make room for RHP Preston Gainey, who was activated from the Rattlers disabled list.

No word on the nature or severity of Tyler Spurlin's injury at this time.

The Brewers have a roster spot open for a pitcher in AA, so naturally...

Chad Pierce - no.

Greg Holle - no.

Austin Ross - no.

Stephen Peterson - no.

Tanner Poppe - no.

Jed Bradley - no.

Hobbs Johnson - no.

Tim Dillard - yes, definitely.

With all due respect to Dillard... what kind of message does this send?

Exactly... "we really like our pitching depth in the minor leagues but..."

He's 30 years old, can we please move on from these veterans and give some of the prospects a chance to shine? I understand putting on a show to "win" and hopefully retain affiliations but come on, is a little upward mobility going to sink the ship in either case? Any of the AA relievers could bounce up to Nashville and do what Blazek has done.

Free our legitimate prospects!

Congrats to RHP Eric Marzec, who has been promoted to Nashville from Huntsville.

This won't be Marzec's first time at AAA, he made two emergency appearances there as a surprise call-up from Brevard County in 2011.

The Brewers selected the now-26-year-old Marzec in the 30th round of the 2010 draft out of Youngstown State University, so he's had quite the run already considering his draft status. If you remember, Marzec enjoyed this past winter in the Australian (Summer) Baseball League.

That was quick. Marzec returns to fill Huntsville's open roster spot. He did pitch one scoreless inning for Nashville on Sunday.

No word yet on the plans for the Sounds to fill their now-available roster spot.

Actually, in Rick Sweet's pre-game audio today via Jeff Hem, Sweet indicates that OF Kevin Mattison (shoulder strain) will be activated when the Sounds play in Colorado Springs Tuesday.

Via the Sounds Media Notes, OF Kevin Mattison (shoulder strain) activated from the DL -- Mattison was riding a season-best three-game hit streak (.500, 3-for-6) with two homers and five RBIs before the injury.

Looks like we'll have Wisconsin transactions Wed. or Thurs.

24-year-old RHP Mark Williams (career stats), a 2011 independent league signee who split 2013 between Brevard County and Huntsville, is off to Wisconsin, as per his own tweet.

It's unclear at this time what caused the delay (injury rehab?) in Williams' 2014 debut, or in his low placement now.

Regardless, welcome back, Mark.

And the Brewers indicate today that LHP Tyler Linehan has been transferred to extended spring training in Maryvale to make room.

Via @BrewersPD:

IF Nick Delmonico has been transferred to Brevard County. He will replace Jose Sermo, who has been placed on the DL retroactive to 5/7.

OK Nick, let's see where we are, fresh start in the organization, 2014 begins...

Also: Catcher roulette -

Matt Pagnozzi has been activated from the DL w/Nashville. Robinzon Diaz has been placed on the DL retro to yesterday.
