Good Luck to the "former" Voice of the Helena Brewers, Steve Wendt

Brewer Fanatic Staff

As per his own tweet --

Thankful for my time broadcasting the @helenabrewers and excited to be joining the great staff of @66ersBaseball in San Bernardino.

That would be the awesome Steve Wendt, who has treated us to his calls from Helena since 2004.

The new dad to daughter Sloan (congrats to Steve and Emma) had lived in California prior to and around his Helena gig, so this new position with Inland Empire of the high-A California League makes a lot of sense.

Video profile from last summer

I've heard more of Steve's calls than any other announcer of the Link Report era, often flipping over to those Mountain Time broadcasts of the rookie kids right after big league Brewer games. What a pro. Many of the Brewers farmhands up and down the chain conducted their first on-air interviews with Steve, many of those archived the past couple of years. Steve was fantastic in that role.

Tough shoes to fill, much future success awaits, Steve. Enjoy and thanks!

Even though this was somewhat inevitable, and I'm happy for Steve on a personal level that he is moving on, I will miss him. Similarly to MH, outside of the team(s) I was covering in a particular season, Helena was far and away my most listened to broadcast for many reasons; high college draft picks starting there, interesting HS kids getting bumped to R+ right away, both Steve's broadcast and interviews, and there's nothing quite like drifting off to sleep with the H-Crew in the background.

Best of luck Steve!

... and at least he'll (hopefully) never have to broadcast through another

! I love me some peanuts but I have no idea what's wrong with the people of Missoula... "PEA-NUT", "PEA-NUT","PEA-NUT"... just endlessly all inning long... GAH!

where's Mike Lindskog, the former High Desert announcer? I used to like listening to him while in college, and he even invited me into the booth in San Jose

Mike was (and I imagine still is) a blast.

Those High Desert teams were dreadful, but the very late night audio (for this East Coaster) provided plenty of entertainment.
