2014 Perfect Game Draft Coverage

PG's Draft Page

PG already has much more content flowing than does BA, as always there is data available for not just the 2014 draft, but upcoming drafts as well. Here is a sample of the content:

Draft Chat from 1/10/2014

2014 Top 500 HS prospects

2014 MLB Draft: Top 300 Prospects

Top 200 Junior College Prospects

They have also started in on the individual player updates which will be too numerous to keep up with in this thread, check PG often to see if your draft favorites have been covered (premium content). A sample of the players currently highlighted on the site would include Foster Griffen, Bradley Zimmer, Cobi Johnson, Greg Allen, and Jack Flaherty.

Thanks TheCrew07, always appreciate the linkage and support.

I'm going to try not to be too big of a homer, and I'll keep my posts in this thread limited, but if you don't follow PG, we posted our 43rd Draft Focus profile so far this year today on Brady Aiken. For as good as Aiken is, we've received recent reports that he's been up as high as 96 mph this spring, as his fastball has taken another uptick to go along with his already strong curveball and overall command.

The Draft Focus profiles are Insider based, but I strongly suggest you give it a try, even if you wait to do so closer to the draft:

Almost all of these profiles have video included. Most of these videos you can find on the individual PG player profiles and/or on PG's YouTube channel:

That said, if you don't want to subscribe you can't beat our high school preview content, all of which is free. Each of the 10 region previews provides a Dream Team and identifies the top tools. Here's a link to feature that includes all of the HS preview content, tons of great draft related info to soak up:

As Colby noted PG continues to update their player by player articles on a regular basis, it would take me forever to link every article as they get posted but here are a couple of recent updates:

Draft Focus: Joey Pankake

Draft Focus: Forrest Wall

Also another reminder that PG already has full scouting reports for all draft prospects if you are so inclined, it's a tremendous draft resource.

Rodon No Longer a Fixture at No. 1

The most pitching-dominated draft on record occurred in 2004, when seven of the first eight selections were pitchers. The exception, coincidentally, was No. 1 overall pick Matt Bush, who began his professional career as a shortstop but eventually moved to the mound before his career was derailed altogether.

Three years ago, the first four players off the board for the first time were pitchers, led by UCLA righthander Gerrit Cole, already a mainstay in the Pittsburgh Pirates rotation.

“You could see as far back as last summer that it would be a pitching-oriented draft this year,” said a National League scouting director. “It was apparent just by looking at the Cape Cod League and Team USA that the number of quality bats would be few and far between.”

Just a teaser as the list is insider content... so if you aren't a subscriber why not? At least do the monthly until the draft and then cancel, give 'em something for all their hard work! They moved my boy Grant Holmes up to #5, hopefully he doesn't perform his way up out of the #12 pick. I would love for the Brewers to have Holmes, Freeland, and Newcomb all there ripe for the picking... but then the Brewers would draft Trea Turner and I'd have to cry myself to sleep because of the pitching we walked away from.

Sorry for no notice on this, I didn't get over to PG's site until about 30 minutes ago, and didn't see this until just now.

MLB Draft Chat: May 7

edit. Brewer question at 11:48, not really answered though, but since they through out a name I'm not a huge Gatewood guy.

A kid who naturally throws that hard and his HS coaches didn't try him as a pitcher years ago? Odd...

2014 MLB Mock Draft Version 2

MICHAEL CONFORTO - OF - Oregon State

The Brewers prospect cupboard is essentially bare and they have especially struggled to develop the many high round college pitching prospects they’ve invested in over the past four to five years. Time to go another direction with the most “sure thing” college bat in the class.

I'm not going to lie, I would have a hard time getting on board with that pick.
