Bernie Slide?

I did the slide tour with my wife and daughter towards the end of the 2012 season. It was pretty cool. The climb up the stairs to the top is rather treacherous. I can't imagine doing it in full costume.

I will advise sliders to be aware that the landing spot has some unforgiving Astroturf on the bottom platform. I left a little JimH5 leg skin as a souvenir for Bernie, and then spent the next three hours admiring my rug burn.

Good to know about the inside stuff i am sure the stairs are not easy. guess i be wearing long pants. the one issue that i see you have to have more than one person to go on the slide and know my buddy will not do that . It seems a bummer you can't book as an indiviual

Maybe they want someone with you in case of an accident. I can't think of any other reason why a single person couldn't go. The three of us were combined with others and I think there may have been as many as 10 or 12 total in our group, but maybe it was just 8. The tour then took you down to the bowels of the stadium, out onto the warning track in the right field corner, past the inside hitting cages, the media room, past the clubhouse door, and then up to the Club area and to the slide platform. I would do it again.

I remember at Arctic Tailgate a couple years back maybe the first year they had everyone camping out on the outfield side of the stadium for some reason one of the doors in the outfield before the HD deck was put in was unlocked and once people found out two people went down the slide in the middle of the night!!

Now that would have been cool. Interesting to note though the Brewers caught on and had to turn on all the lights to try and find the two that snuck inside and I heard that just to tun on the lights was pain cause it cost a ton of money to turn ALL the lights on!! Forget how much though.

I think a real tour would be neat for $100 I would except to see a good amount of MP you can't see on a daily basis during games!!

As a former employee of said command center, I can assure you that's not how it went down. While I won't divulge the level of security neccessary to access the slide, it is significantly more than just entering an unsecured field level stadium entrance. That said, in no way shape or form would the seating bowl lights be turned on in order to find the two individuals. The exit to the slide doesn't come close to entering the seating bowl and wouldn't be a prudent place to start looking for subjects that were thought to have gone down the slide. While I have no doubts that access was gained to the stadium, I would almost guarantee they didn't go down the slide and I would know for certain that the response wasn't to turn on the seating bowl lights. The ease at finding subjects inside the stadium is uncanny. No need to turn on seating bowl lights.

When I left the organization in 2008, employees weren't allowed to access the slide under any circumstances. In fact, Brewer players have been "disciplined" for accessing the slide in the years that I was there. I would definitely take advantage of this today considering it was a taboo experience then.
