Coming to Milwaukee -- Pumped

brewmann04

Not sure of the Renaissance you're speaking of there are several new hotels like the new Marriott on E Wisconsin (haven't been, brand new)Of course the Pfister on Wisconsin (where the ballplayers stay). Or the Brewhouse Suites which is located in the the former Pabst Brewery site (used to be the brewhouse, duh complete with copper wort kettles)Theres a residence inn on Plankinton (connected to whats left of the Grand Ave mall) And the newer Fairfield Inn on Old World Third St. . Wesstown (west of the river, a tad closer to the stadium) is the Hilton City Center on 6th and Wisconsin, which has a decent steakhouse in it, and I believe shuttles to the ballpark from the Miller Time Pub. Across the st from that is the Doubletree, which is a renovated former Holiday Inn, and 1/2 blk from that is the old Raddison on Michigan, which I havent been in years.

As far as restaurants are concerned if your staying in the Wesstown area (near the convention cntr and surrounding) kind of limited for walking distance. There is Butch's Casino steakhouse on Michigan and James Lovell (5th st) which is tiny, but very good. Theres the Milwaukee Chop House in the Hilton center or the Capital Grille in the ground floor of the Federal Building (the big blue mirrored bldnt off Wisconsin Ave) which is good.

Easstown (east of the river) has many more choices, generally where all the new downtown restaurants are, ask a concierge too many to mention

EDIT - Sorry about all the spelling errors, new keyboard.

If you're looking to see Milwaukee, try to find a place downtown. Brookfield is about 15-20 minutes from the stadium. It's a cookie cutter suburb that is great if you're into chain restaurants and strip malls. (No offense to Brookfield residents) Wauwatosa hotels are going to be about 10. Wauwatosa has some good bars, but they aren't as close together (you can kinda bar hop around 68th-70th and north, but there is no hotels within 2-3 miles from there), they're all on the border between Tosa and Brookfield.

There's a handful of areas in Milwaukee that are great for bar hopping, restaurants and night life, and depending where you stay, it's all very walkable. And there's a pretty straight shot to Miller Park from Downtown off of canal street which will lead you right to the parking lot.

Just a heads up cabs aren't really frequent as other cities either, and the bus system isn't worth your time.

Carnivore seems like everyone's favorite steak house, though I've never been there because it's pricey as all get out.

Favorite Mexican place: GTO's in Bay Vew

Sports Bar: Stenny's in Walkers Point is pretty good with great wings

Burger: Sobelman's on St Paul

Pizza: Transfer in Walker's Point

Brewery Tour: Skip Miller Brewery, go to Lakefront and Milwaukee Brewering Company.

Old German Beer House is also my favorite bar to tell people to go to. Great atmosphere, sausages, liter beers, and the famous shotski.

Any other questions, I'd love to help you.

So, my stupid reply got added 3 times. Not sure how that happened.

So, if you're staying at the Marriott, you're in the Easttown section of downtown, there shouldn't be any problem with cabs since most of the bigger hotels have cab stands should you need one. As for restaurants its a good side of town to be on. For steak I like Capitol Grill and its fairly close to the Marriott, its pricey, but keep in mind whats considered pricey here may not be from your standpoint, because we are an, ummm "frugal" people.

Old World Third St where the Old German Beer Hall is located has a nice array of bars and of course there's Water St which is the spot for drinking and "imbibe-atude". Sports bars gotta do Goosbys or Buck Bradlys.

brewmann04, if you feel comfortable sharing your seat locations once they are established, we can stash them in a forum that members can see without their being all over the internets.

brewmann04 can post to the "Off Topic (Private)" without the help of a moderator if he'd like. The only differences between that forum and the others are that it's only visible to logged in members and that it isn't visible to search engines. "Off Topic (Private)" is located at the top of the Off Topic forum.

Fixed. :) Thanks for using the post report feature to alert us to that.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I can fully respect that, I'm a die-hard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan for pretty much the same reason. When they came into the league I was in 7th grade, and immediately fell in love with those orange uniforms. I bailed on the Packers, and have been a Bucs fan ever since. You want to talk about grief, be anything other than a Packer fan and live 30 minutes from Lambeau Field...lol

we're going to stay @ downtown Marriott ... got a family rate of 80 a night.

now follow up questions are how many rows are there in Field Infield Box

Loge Infield Box

and Terrace box

Thanks

I could be wrong on these but for a rough estimate: Field Infield and Loge infield are the lower and 2nd deck seats, between 3rd and first around behind the plate. They have from 30-45 rows of seats in each section.

Terrace box is the first 6 or so rows in the upper deck (400 level) which wraps around the entire upper deck.

Terrace Box sections alternate between 6 and 7 rows. Some TB sections have a back "row" for ADA access. There's room for wheelchairs in those rows, and padded folding chairs where a wheelchair isn't needed.

The Loge Infield Box sections that are in front of the press box (sections 216-221) are each 10 rows deep. Sections 210-215 and 222-227 are not in front of the press box and go back deeper, as Baldkin pointed out.

brewmann04, please let me know if you want the name and contact info for our ticket rep. He can answer pretty specific questions about seating. I'm sure all the ticket reps can, but if you contacted him, you wouldn't be the first BF.net person referred to him by me (in other words, he's probably used to it :)).

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
