As a kid, my brother and I would watch Emmett Otter's Jug Band Christmas which was a Jim Henson production and our mom actually bought it for us a few years back. Now we make sure to turn it on every Christmas since and sing along to the dismay of our wives and kids (we are both in our early 40's with kids ranging from 20 down to 8). The movie is in the form of a musical with puppets and is extremely cheesy. I'm pretty sure my mom regrets buying us that DVD now.

 

I am also a big fan of A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (Cartoon).

I know that I already posted in this thread (2 years ago) but I also remember HBO airing the "Rich Little's A Christmas Carol" back when I was younger. I always thought that show was hilarious as well.

My kids force me to watch the Polar Express every time its on; which is basically every other night on ABC Family. I liked it the first couple times; after that not so much.

 

Personally Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story are the two I enjoy the most; of course in moderation

I enjoy most Christmas movies. Unfortunately, with all the cable channels now they get way over played. There are some that I will always still watch at least once during the season. The ones that come to my head are It's a Wonderful Life, Charlie Brown Christmas, Scrooged, & A Christmas Story. I have not watched Rudolph, Year without a Santa Clause, Frosty the Snow Man (the original) in a while. With our son grown up, feel a little odd watching those shows aimed at kids, even though I think they are awesome. Will always watch Charlie Brown..no matter how old I am or what season it is.

 

A note regarding "It's a Wonderful Life". Does anyone remember when that use to pretty much only be shown on public television? It was shown a lot on public television in the 80's. I swear that there were times that it would be playing on both Channel 10 and 36 at the same time in Milwaukee.

Muppet Christmas Carol (actually like the George C. Scott version too).

 

I think the definitive version of [cite]A Christmas Carol[/cite] is the 1951 version with Alastair Sim as Scrooge.

 

The 1938 version, with Reginald Owen as Scrooge, is a somewhat kinder, gentler version. The fun aspect of this version is that three members of the Lockhart family are part of the cast: Gene Lockhart as Bob Cratchit, Kathleen Lockhart as Mrs. Cratchit, and a very young June Lockhart (pictured at left) as Belinda Cratchit. By the way, June turned 90 this year.

 

I haven't seen the George C. Scott version enough to personally rate it, but I hear that it stands up well.

 

And of course, interpretations like the [cite]The Muppet Christmas Carol[/cite] and [cite]Mickey's Christmas Carol[/cite] are always fun.

 

A lot of the Tiny Tims are annoying, though, but that would seem to be the nature of the beast.

"Elf", "Christmas Story" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (not the horrible Jim Carrey version), "It's a Wonderful Life", "Love, Actually". Usually "Rudolph" as well. Those are probably the ones we never miss during the Holiday season. My wife loves Christmas movies, so we'll watch others as well, but - thankfully - not all those Hallmark movies.

I like where your head is at Reilly. Love, Actually is one of my faves and a must watch every December. Rudolph is probably my favorite old school Christmas movie. Elf, Christmas Vacation and original Grinch are all great. I respect Santa Claus is coming to Town too.

Christmas Vacation is my favorite leading up to the day but I enjoy watching Christmas Story for like 22 of the 24 hours on the actual day.
