Yankees now need a 2B

MNBrew

Maybe this is a crazy idea, but with Cano signing in Seattle today, do you think the Yankees might have a bit of interest in Rickie Weeks?

Related (though partially counterintuitive) thought: If the Brewers picked up a decent chunk of Weeks' contract (not that the Yankees don't have dough -- it'd be about the return), do you see maybe a Brett Gardner coming back this way? Or could a combination of those moves enable a trade of Gomez for a collection of serious young assets? If YES to all that, would the return be worth what was given up? (On this sub-zero day in MN, the ideas are just snowballing -- pun intended.)

They signed Kelly Johnson. He'd be a good platoon mate with him at 2B. It's not out of the realm of possibility. They'd also be a good fit for Ramirez with A-Rod likely being suspended for the season. Trade them both players for prospects. The only problem would be finding a replacement for Ramirez since the goal is obviously still to compete.

Looks like the Royals are intersted in Infante too! Maybe Nedly would like a reunion with Rickie Weeks????

If the Royals are in need of a 2B, Weeks needs to be offered up ASAP!

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Royals are interested in Omar Infante.

Heyman notes, however, that it will be an "uphill battle" for the Royals because there's a "strong market" for Infante and Kansas City has a limited budget. The Yankees, for one, are interested in Infante as they look for someone to replace Robinson Cano. Infante batted .318/.345/.450 with 10 homers and 51 RBI for the Tigers in 2013.
