What's there to do in the cesspool of St. Louis

What's fun to do in STL? Pack up and get out. If you must stay then I suggest going to the zoo.

Bonus points if you wear a Brandon Phillips jersey or 2013 WS Champs Boston Red Sox gear for the duration of your stay.

The Arch is kind of neat to see if you haven't been there,

I was 8 the one and only time I went in the arch. I thought it was pretty lame. Get in a small little capsule, go up and look through little windows at either a dirty river, East St. Louis or downtown St. Louis, which is alright. Booooooring.

the Botanical Gardens is good and free two days of the week. although i can't figure much is growing right now.

there are lots of ethnic neighbourhoods to get some good food. that may be your best bet. a lot of fantastic and interesting stuff. there's a good Bosnian area and a Serbian area to get food.

some decent disc golf courses.

the tour of Grant's Farm is actually less exciting than you'd think it would be.

a close relative lives there. it's like the whole city is in a constant state of disrepair.

I've decided I'm going to lower myself to doing a Busch Stadium tour.

for every single thing that gets pointed out, ask the tour guide if that's the way baseball intended it to be, and to be specific in which ways it's better than any other stadium in baseball.

If you do, wear a Brewers jersey.

If you do both these things, report back to see how the Brewers gear is received at Busch. Sgtcluels and ewizabeff took the tour a few years ago and if I recall correctly got mini-lectured on how untucking was bad. If that happened to me I'd have made sure my displeasure was known.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Really hope at least one of them had their shirts tucked in and then started untucking them in the middle of the lecture.

Enjoy the current lousy weather, which would be a mild inconvenience in WI, but shuts down STL as if it were the storm of the century. St Charles is fun, if you want to venture across the river, look up the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. It's a drive through display of millions of Christmas lights, it's really cool. Looking for good food in city depends on what you like to eat. Blackthorn Pub is a dump of a dive with the best Chicago style pizza around (Tower Park area), The Vine on Grand has awesome middle-eastern food, there are tons of good eating/drinking spots in the Central West End, just outside of downtown. If you want BBQ, hit Bogarts in Soulard. If you want good Italian, prepare to be disappointed for the most part. The legendary "Hill" area, that people here love, is pretty lousy in my opinion. For nightlife, there is Laclede's Landing downtown, which is a pretty young crowd. Westport has quite a few bars, but is not all that near downtown. The rare occasions I have to go out at night are typically spent in the Central West End. I particularly enjoy Sub Zero, which is a pretty cool vodka bar. If you want to catch a game, the Blues are in town Saturday night, and this is the only group of STL fans that I can tolerate. The Scott Trade Center is really a home ice advantage place, the games are awesome.

Did the tour today. I was the only one on it so it was pretty fun. I was wearing my Brewer stocking cap so the guide asked me if I was a Brewer fan and I said yes. He then asked me if I was here to see some world series trophies. I wasn't lectured on playing the game the right way or how to be classy but I could've done without him mentioning Stan Musial at every opportunity. Because I was the only one on the tour he took me a couple places he usually doesn't. I got to see the scoreboard control room and walk on the field behind homeplate.

BURN! That's funny enough that I don't even think I would've been mad.

Sounds like it was a good tour.
