Logan Morrison rumor

I think it's between Ike Davis, Logan Morrison and Corey Hart. There's not really a lot of free agent options besides Morales.

Putting it that way, I think it's between Morrison & Hart. I want nothing to do with Ike Davis.

Reading a Marlins blog (linked from mlbtraderumors.com) by Joe Frisaro, apparently the Marlins previously have coveted Juan Francisco. Both Morrison & JF are projected to earn between $1.5M & $1.8M in their first arby-eligible year. Can we just swap those guys for each other right away & call it good?

I'm not sure I'm enamored of Morrison, but I like him a whole lot better than JF -- especially given the occasional appraisal out there suggesting he could be a 3B backup or fill-in option -- Yikes!!!

(I'm also not sure why "of" is the proper preposition to follow "enamored," but apparently it is. That always sounds weird.)

I actually would feel better about Morrison's health situation at his price-point than what's going to be Corey Hart's if the funds saved we're guaranteed to be spent elsewhere this year or in the future.

Unfortunately there's no guarantee.

Well, the latest MLBTR rumblings have 10 teams having shown interest in Morrison and checking in with Miami.

I will say that between Francisco and Morrison I'd do the deal and there may be some interest by Miami in that deal. They are connected in Tampa's 3b Sean Rodriquez to fill in during the pre-Colin Moran era. So how about Francisco being that fillin?

Get LoMo and get rid of Francisco in one move? YES PLEASE!!

If the Brewers end up with Morrison, does this ensure that Hart won't be back?

Could the Brewers figure to make Morrison 5th outfielder/LH ph option/occasional 1st baseman?

This...

Acquiring Morrison does not close the door on Corey Hart returning IMO. I think trading for Morrison is simply insurance in the event Hart is not re-signed and/or insurance in the event Hart gets hurt. Provided Hart is re-signed after a Morrison deal, I see Morrison as filling the exact role bensheeps mentions as well as an able bat to sub in when Hart's knees need a break.

I don't know if the 40Man can fit both Hart/Morrison unless the player being dealt for LoMo is a Roster'd player.

3:50pm: The Brewers aren't on the verge of acquiring Morrison, GM Doug Melvin tells Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Seems to make sense when you add the latest Ike Davis discussions once again. Guess we're out of the running for LoMo. I said I wasn't for him unless it was to dump Juan Francisco on the Marlins. Guess we can't swap crapshoot for crapshoot

Sounds very murky, but a guy named Shane Miller (of "Outside Pitch MLB") on Twitter is claiming "Source: Rickie Weeks could be traded to Marlins for Logan Morrison."

I'd take it with a big grain of salt right now until more details come out or other sources verify.
