Cubs acquire George Kottaras

The Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan tweets that the Cubs will send cash to the Royals for Kottaras, who will compete for the backup job in Spring Training.

George really struggled to get hits with the Royals in his limited (100) at bats last year, hitting just .180 (although he did walk enough to have an OBP of .324 and an OPS of .719). He threw out baserunners at a league average percentage.

 

George was much better at the plate than Martin Maldonado last year (or any year)!

yes indeed that would be cool. I liked the idea of George playing for Ned in KC.... now Sveum has left the Cubs and gone to KC and George is heading to Wrigley
