All Things Yuni (2013–14 Offseason); LATEST: signs with Orix Buffaloes of Japan (post #26)

If this report from mlbtraderumors is correct, and Betancourt really has 5 teams interested in his services, we live in a bizarre, messed-up world.

As long as none of those 5 teams are the Milwaukee Brewers, that's all that matters. He can go be mediocre for anyone else.

This is why. Who can possibly resist that smiling face?

Or these sweet dance moves?

Speaking strictly from a research type standpoint, it would be interesting to see if STL could fix him...and horrifying if it turns out they can. That would surely prove the devil magic theorem.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

You're giving him WAY too much credit.

If I give him way too much credit and he's not in Milwaukee in 2014, I really don't care. I just want him gone. Yesterday.

“Also recognize (Brewers general manager) Doug Melvin for the funniest line ever delivered to a person in a car accident," True said. "He told (True’s colleague) Drew Olson that if it would help me he said he won’t re-sign Yuniesky Betancourt to a new contract this season. It’s got to be the best line ever from a Canadian.”

I was afraid what might be in this thread when I saw it was bumped. I don't understand how any team could want him on a MLB deal after they look at this historical stats.

I assume he must have some clubhouse presence that some teams want to add as their 25th player. Just not us, because RR will play the gritty veteran.

Zach Links of MLBTradeRumors.com reports that multiple teams are still interested in Yuniesky Betancourt, including one that could give him a chance to start.

The Marlins no longer have interest following the signing of Casey McGehee, but it sounds like Yuni won't have trouble finding a new home. That said, it's hard to believe that after a dreadful .212/.240/.355 season someone would really give him a shot to start.

I will not rest easy until some team, any team besides the Brewers inks him to a deal... Until that happens, I truly believe he will be a Brewer in 2014.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that Yuniesky Betancourt is "less than a week away" from making a decision on where he'll sign.

Cotillo adds that multiple teams have been interested, though it would be surprising if they were major league offers. Betancourt turns 32 later this month and batted just .212/.240/.355 in 409 plate appearances last year.

This on MLBTradeRumors.com this morning:

Yuniesky Betancourt will decide on his new club within the week, MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo reports (Twitter link). Betancourt was drawing interest from several teams, potentially even as a starter.

Prepare for the forums to explode as Betancourt is announced as the Brewer's starting 1B for 2014.
