I've said this before, but I was at that game and I missed the drop because I assumed the game was over and I was bending down to gather up some things before I left. All I heard was the crowd (well..the Brewer part of the crowd) erupt and people yell "He dropped it!"

 

That was the same year as the McGwire/Sosa HR chase. I believe Sosa hit 2 dingers to CF in that game, but McGwire had already busted Maris' record by that point and had a pretty good lead on Sosa.

There were two dingers from Sammy in that game. At least one went to center-right, because we had right-field corner lower grandstand seats that day (exchanged from some prior game we couldn't attend) and I vividly remember having a great view of one of the HR balls sailing almost right in front of us.

 

I know I've said this before, but that was and still is one of the most all-around interesting games I've ever attended.

What's weird is that I still have 1998 Brewers playoff tickets. I guess I must have lived in some alternate reality during high school in which those tickets actually wound up being worth holding onto.
