The New York Yankees are reportedly near a deal for radio broadcast rights that will next them $150-200 million over the next decade.

The $15-20 million a year is as much or more than what some teams get for television rights.

Only a few teams in MLB make less than 20 million a year on local TV.

I'm kind of bummed, as WFAN has been broadcasting Mets games for years. The Yankees deal will force the Mets to another station.

It's especially bad for WFAN as the Mets seem to have a brighter future than the Yanks on the field.

Better minor leagues, maybe.... but the Yankees can spend up to half a billion a year and not lose a penny. Clearly they will always have the brightest future in the salary-capless MLB.

This. It's hard to predict their future rosters since a handful of those players are currently on other teams, probably turning down team-friendly extensions and holding out for a big pay day.

Maybe the Yankees would like Rickie Weeks to backup Cano. Give me Tyler Austin for Rick Roll, and call it a day.
