Milwaukee Bucks Thread 2009–2010 (part 2)

I'm beginning to become a little frustrated with the Bulls and their 10-game losing streak. On the one hand, their recent slide has definitely improved the Bucks' chances of making the playoffs (no complaints there). However, they're sitting in that prime 11th spot from the bottom where the Bucks could swap picks with them, assuming that they hold their position in the lottery. The Clippers are the next closest team to catching the Bulls in terms of total wins with 26 to the Bulls' 31 (with approximately 15 games left to play for each team).

Jennings is doing one heck of a job fighting through the rookie wall. I'm sure Evans will win the ROY because his stats are better, but Jennings is clearly the most valuable rookie this year.

And nodakfan17, I wouldn't worry too much about the Bulls. I'm sure the Clippers will stay true to what they've always prided themselves on -- losing.

Even if the Bulls lose the rest of their games the Clippers would have to go 5-8 to catch them with this schedule.

vs Sacramento

@ Dallas

@ Houston

vs Golden State

@ Milwaukee

@ Toronto

@ Denver

vs New York

vs Portland

@ Sacramento

vs Golden State

vs Dallas

vs Los Angeles

What are the chances they win five of those games and the Bulls losing the rest of their games to tie?

The biggest concern with the Bulls pick at this point is the Bulls catching New Orleans who is tied in the loss column with Chicago, though New Orleans has two more wins.

What a win. Back end of a back to back where the first went to double OT, in Denver, without any big contribution from Bogut? Ridiculous. Denver is 30-5 at home this season, scratch that, 30-6! LOL. This just shows you, if you play tough defense you can hang with ANYONE.

Kurt Thomas was a freaking mountain tonight, he stepped up when we needed him the most. Fish hit some crazy shots and got to the which was really important. DelThreeno did his thing too. Good to see Ridnour bounce back a bit too. Too many players to mention.

LOVE watching this team. Let's defend our house on Monday vs Atlanta! I think I'll be there, the playoff race is so fun.

edit: I'm sorry I meant MONDAY vs Atlanta.

Biggest win of the year by far.

No matter where Chicago ends up(which won't be below 11th), we will trade picks, so we will get a lottery pick, AND make the playoffs this year. Hammond seems to be making all the right moves so far.

Couldn't the lottery change all that? I don't think there is any type of guarantee the Bucks will be able to swap picks until the ping pong balls determine where the lottery teams are drafting.

Great win by the Bucks. I guess it is possible to develop a team and win at the same time. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

It would be awesome for the Bucks to make the playoffs and be able to swap picks with Chicago...it really would be possible then to continue to grow and get some more young, cheap talent on the team.

Technically yes, but there's only a 2.9% chance the Bulls move into the top 3 even at 11. So while they could move into the top three, it's not very likely and under the current system the team to jump the highest was the 2008 Bulls who jumped from 9th to 1st during the lottery.

What about the Magic a few years back? I think in 1993. I'm guessing the rules have changed since then?

I understand the odds are slim...I just don't like the lottery. I really wish they would only do it for 5 - 10 teams instead of every team that misses the playoffs.

Yeah, rules changed after that year so instead of 66 chances there would be 1,000 chances.

Doing it for 10 teams makes sense, since teams that low rarely move into the top three. Have the lottery for the top 10 teams and then go based on record for the rest of the draft. Of course it looks like you're rationalizing and preparing yourself for the Bulls moving into the top 3, such is the life of a Bucks fan. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

They do it for every team to "prevent" late season tanking. The problem is that the reward of a top 3 pick is so much greater than trying to make that 35th win that you're a bad franchise if you don't start tanking if you have no shot at .500 and the playoffs.

Oh I understand why they do it. I mean a team can still tank if they want to improve their chance. I just don't know that every non-playoff team really needs to be in the lottery. There no doubt would still be tanking and I don't know how to avoid that. I would just assume/guess in a perfect world the teams that are the last out of the playoffs are actually close to making it...of course that doesn't always happen. I don't know if there is a perfect fix, but I'd be interested in other alternatives.

Bucks win again. I think if they end up playing Atlanta in the first round it would be an epic series.

Box score says 14, 186 at the game tonight. C'mon Milwaukee get out and support this team!

Haven't read much in this thread (recently at least) about the job Skiles is doing as Head Coach. He really gets this team ready to play every night. Reminds me of the early Karl years... just hope the players don't eventually tune him out like they did with Karl. But anyway - Skiles deserves a boatload of consideration for Coach of the Year. Especially when you factor in the prognosticators view of this team in preseason.

asking for more than 15k on a monday night might be a bit greedy. as long as the friday night/saturday night games are sold out or close to sold out and the weekday games are around 15k, that's pretty good as far as i'm concerned...

especially since this team was 7 games below .500 just a few months ago

I was at the game last night, and it was a pretty good crowd. Its amazing that the Bucks played bad for 3 quarters and still beat the 3rd best team in the east. I really love this team, Luke Ridnour and John Salmons both had huge games, and Carlos Delfino stepped it up in the 2nd half.

We are now 9 games over .500, does it really matter where we were a few months ago? The Bucks are a very good team, I think Milwaukee is starting to notice, and I think the crowd sizes will show that soon. When was the last time both the Bucks, Brewers and Packers were good?
