Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2009 (May – Dec.)

I have to follow games on Gameday because I'm out of state. Javier Vazquez has a stunned look in his in his pic, but I didn't notice until Braun homered off him. Then I thought of how awesome it would be if the headshots on gameday were like Mike Tyson's Punch Out shots between rounds, where they'd look really cocky at first but more and more disheveled as pitchers got bombed or hitters accumulated K's.

Ben Sheets' 18 strikeout game is on FSN right now. Johnny Estrada is seriously half the size he was when we had him. What happened? lol

As well, I miss Craig Counsell's old batting stance... although I don't miss the .230 average which went with it.

I ran the Wharf-to-Wharf down in Santa Cruz this morning, and since it's a gigantic vaguely-lighthearted "fun run" type of race, I wore this shirt:

You know, just goofy fun. Anyway, at these things you see a lot of shirts for road-races from 5Ks to Marathons or whatever, and as we were waiting around at the start for the gun to go off, some guy nearby that I saw looking over at me with his girlfriend or whatever asked, "The 'Sausage Race'...where is that one?"

I almost started to explain, but then I just said, "Uh...Milwaukee."

The Brewers and this trade deadline have been bothering so much that I've been dreaming about it: last night I had a long dream (that was maybe not quite a "nightmare" per se, but was surprisingly very very upsetting to me in my dream and when I woke up) that the Brewers traded Prince for some B-line pitcher to (alternately at different points) the A's, the Tigers, and the San Antonio Spurs baseball team (?!?). I remember feeling really bad about it.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one whose dreams have been invaded by the Brewers and trade rumors! The other night I somehow conjured up Cameron and Suppan going to Seattle...I don't remember for what.

Wow, over the weekend I had a similar dream about Prince being dealt for a bunch of guys in a Richie Sexson-esque trade. Also, someone gave my dog away in that dream, which I guess can officially be described as a nightmare.

I must have disconnected myself from the team over the last week... I'm in "whatever" mode with the big club at the moment. In past years I had dreams, good and bad about the Brewers, none this season so far. I spent the night dreaming about downed power lines zapping people for some reason. I will typically fall asleep to a movie and my dreams will be tied to the movie or whatever is on TV, last night was Kung Fu Panda though, nothing power line related in that movie at all, so I have no idea where the whole concept came from.

Speaking of Brewers dreams, I had a dream about a month ago that Prince Fielder was called out at third base on a garbage call and he punched the umpire in the face. It was pretty awesome. This was right after one of the games we had where everyone was complaining about the strike zone and blown calls on the bases.

This banner ad makes the Brewers' organization look mighty confident:

I mean, I guess "Come see if the Brewers can get one out of three!" wouldn't sell as many tickets, but this seems to be just asking for the wrong kind of sweep.

(The Brewers can feel more than free to prove me wrong.)

Is it okay to dump out a warm can of soda from my car on the ground? It's really annoying that it's taking up a cupholder spot and I'm obviously not gonna drink any more of it, and since it's a can, I can't just throw it on the floor of my car. For some reason, I feel like I'm doing something wrong. No one has ever told me it's wrong or given me a nasty look, so I'm just assuming my conscience is giving me bad intel.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

I'm currently out in Wyoming, an hour east of Grand Teton National Park. While the forecast back home in Madison is 88 and 92 for this weekend, it's supposed to be 56 today where I am, and a low of 33 tonight. I didn't bring jeans with me on this trip, only shorts. 56 is a little chilly for August 8.
