College Basketball 2009-2010 (part 2)

Lunardi's current bracket looks amazing for Wisconsin. He has them as a three seed, and it's the most winnable bracket of the four. They'd likely have to go through Montana-Texas A&M-West Virginia-Duke to reach the final four. That's an easy road compared to what other 3 seeds would have to go through.

I'm going to be attending a bachelor party in New Orleans next weekend (groom is a fellow UW alum)....needless to say, I'm liking that bracket. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

It's amazing how much his predictions shifted in one day...this morning Lunardi had the Badgers as a 4 seed with the "moving down" arrow, and now we're a 3 "moving up"? It seems like he thinks that MSU and Purdue's losses will be more damaging than ours. (I'd be inclined to agree after watching Purdue today.)

Tomorrow should be exciting.

Does it come down to either Minny or Illinois based on today's game?

If Mississippi State takes away one of the at-large bids by winning the SEC title game (over Kentucky), it may well come down to those two for one of the final at-large spots. I think Minnesota needs to win their way in.

Illinois isn't getting in. Funny because after they beat Wisconsin pretty much everyone, including myself, had them in. However at large bids have been taken away from teams winning tournaments that weren't expected too. I think Minnesota jumped Illinois just by making it to the championship game. Minnesota is probably in regardless of if they beat Ohio State or not. Illinois will be the first or second team out.

Wisconsin is still a 3 seed in the same easy section in Lunardi's bracket as of 12pm.

Good draws for both Wisconsin teams. Temple is a good #5 and could be tough in the second round but overall I like Wisconsin's half of the bracket. I'm also pretty shocked Marquette got a #6, although Washington has been pretty hot so that could be tough.

Marquette with a very favorable draw as a 6 seed drawing Washington, possibly one of the last teams in the tourney from a weak Pac-10, and then potentially New Mexico. I'm not afraid of New Mexico; they beat Cal, who I think is overrated, and Dayton but lost at Oral Roberts and lost twice to San Diego State (a good team themselves). New Mexico is not a big team either - tallest player is 6'8" - so this is a really good draw for Marquette. Don't think it could have been any better.

Being in Kentucky's bracket is my dream scenario. Depending on who else is there, there's a good chance I'd pick the Badgers to at least the elite 8.

UW-WVU in the elite eight will be a good game.

I think it sucks that MSU & OSU are not only in the same bracket, but in Kansas's bracket.

And what on earth is going on with the South bracket? I guess the committee is big Duke fans.

Kentucky has to be the best matchup for them of all the one seeds. Reminds me a lot of the K-State team with Beasley everyone hyped up years ago that Wisconsin pummeled. Kentucky hasn't seen much defense like Wisconsin this year.

Kansas would probably destroy them. Syracuse is tough too. I don't like the odds of beating Duke twice. I assumed they'd get a 4, so that's the team I wanted to play in a potential Sweet 16.

Wisconsin also hasn't seen much post rotation like what Kentucky can bring. I don't care if we beat them once already, Duke would be more favorable imo.

Still digesting the brackets, but here's what I think so far:

As much as I hate Duke and love to pick them to lose, they should walk into the final four.

Temple is going to be a tough game for the Badgers with their zone defense. The Badgers shot 1-14 from 3 when they played Dunphy in 2003. I do really want the UW-UK match-up. The Badgers generally get dumped by hot shooting teams and are great at neutralizing athletic teams like Kentucky. Still, if Kentucky plays to their potential, they should win by at least 10.

Marquette has a decent shot against New Mexico, but NM is a good rebounding team despite their size. I expect Marquette to lose.

The Milwaukee games are mediocre at best.

I'll take UW over any fast break team any day of the week. Having said that, Temple really scares me since they play lock down D and a slow pace - I think that they would be a tough matchup.

The Midwest if loaded and I cant really see an excuse as to why all those teams ended up in one bracket.

1. Kansas

2. Ohio State

3. Georgetown

4. Maryland

5. Michigan State

6. Tennessee

Are you kidding me?
