yes, indeed, that was one heck of a game. I was ticked off that my tivo recording of the game ran out with 21 seconds left and I had to find out how it ended on espn.com

Sorry, had to watch my recording of the Brewer game first. One would think that a 2 1/2 hour time block is more than enough for a college basketball game. Guess not.

Gotta be proud of Butler. They held in there until the end and proved that they belonged in the game and was no fluke. I agree with other posters re: Butler killing themselves with horrible inside shooting and spaz-like play from their big man.

I don't know if it's because I know the Butler team very well, since they are in our conference, but that was one of the greatest college basketball games I've ever seen.

Would have been even better with Gus Johnson calling the game, especially if that last shot had gone in. Man, if that shot had gone in, i wonder if it would have gone down as most replayed play in American sports history?

A year or two ago, Gatorade had some 'alternate history' ads where MJ misses his shot against Cleveland ("Cavs win!"), Dwight Clark drops "The Catch", and a couple more.

Anyways I wish they'd make one for this game someday.

For those of us who really don't like Duke, even though Butler just missed that half-court shot we can take solace in watching the guy from Duke guarding him get absolutely leveled on the screen just before he put up the half-court shot. Looked like the guy who set the screen (Hayward?) put a little extra into it too. Just completely decked him.

Watch the replay. Puts a nice little silver lining on the ending. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Ha, we talked about this too as we watched the game.

I get some comfort from that, as well as the fact that it was a great game to watch. I'm not left with a bitter taste as I would have been with a Duke blowout.

I am. That charge call on Hayward when he made the basket was a hard call to take. I dont like to get down on referees because I am an official and I know how hard their job is, but I would tend to think with that type of play that a properly trained official - which these guys were - would have instinctively seen that as a block on Sheyer, but because he was a dookie the call was a charge. That was a 3 point swing at least that may have had an impact on the ending.

Has there ever been a championship game at any level with so many missed layups? Has Dan Gadzuric ever played in a championship game?

If Gus Johnson were calling the game, Butler

would have won for sure. Come on CBS, we can't be having golf

announcers for games like that.

First time in my life I've ever rooted for Duke. Nicely done, Blue Devils. Go cry Butler, too bad this isn't horseshoes or hand-grenades. I hope Brad Stevens isn't a hometown discount kindof guy, would love to see him out of the Horizon league for the greener pastures of some bigtime program.

Horizon is getting a boatload of cash and attention now that Butler has reached the finals.

Moving pick, but it was nice. In fact, moving pick is putting it mildly. I wish the Packers O line could drive block that well!

Just in case anyone was curious, it was Howard who set the 'screen', & I believe it was Singler that got crushed. Yes, that was very satisfying http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

As a Badger fan, I hope he stays at Butler where he is taking some damn good players away from Indiana and Purdue.

If the Crean experiment doesn't work out at Indiana, Stevens would be a near perfect fit there one would imagine.

Arrowhead's 7 footer Ben Mills was released from his commitment to Boise St. today. He has interests from a lot of schools, but so far, not UW or MU. Wisconsin needs guards.....while Marquette could use another big. It should be interesting to see where he lands.

The NCAA is reportedly coming to their senses on tourney expansion and looking strongly at a 68 team field, which I assume would mean 4 play-in games for the 16 seeds.

Good to hear, but come on -- just leave it alone!

Badgers just had a major ruling in their favor by the big ten allowing a kid ( 6 foot 2 guard ) to now come to Wisconsin. Ben Brust out of Illinois. He had committed to Iowa but wanted to leave after Lickliter was fired......Big Ten rules said he couldnt recieve a scholarship for a year.

With this ruling, UW should now sign a pretty good guard to go with this year's class

I think the play-in game is stupid. It's basically a Bracket Buster game in March for the oppurtunity to get destroyed by a 1 seed. Just take 64 teams.
I'd be rather angry if I was a mid-major conference. All the committee is doing is pushing out these minor conference teams in favor of three more .500 major conference teams. These play-in games aren't for the bubble teams...
