With Washington kicking the crap out of New Mexico

True...but not that Washington over New Mexico is a killer upset (it's probably not even an upset at all). That's the consolation prize for the NCAA committee's seeding methods: it creates even more drama when an underseeded team beats up on an overseeded team.

As for the Kansas-UNI game, I'm still shocked. That was fun to watch.

UNI over KU is the biggest upset I can remember since George Mason over UConn the year they made their Final Four run...incredible.

And now BYU jumps out to a 7-0 lead over Kansas State. We may not be done with the upsets yet tonight.

I think it would be fascinating if someone came up with a college basketball version of fan-graphs. Where you could monitor how NCAA teams typically fare when they fall behind 10-0. I don't know if it would be at all possible to create, but it would be absolutely fascinating.

Kentucky looked really good tonight before CBS lost interest and cut to the K-State game. Granted, if the Badgers win tomorrow they'll probably try to play defense, which would be a step above Wake tonight just by attempting.

Wake was a one-man team, and once Aminu went to the bench with foul trouble they were doomed. But yeah, Kentucky is scary good when they want to be. Here's to hoping the easy win tonight lulls them into a false sense of security next weekend.

...not that I'm assuming Wisconsin wins. Cornell could just as easily give the Wildcats fits, too.

If the Leuers could get some defensive rebounds, they might actually have a shot in this game. It seems that Cornell isn't missing, but when they do they get the rebound and then make a three.

Where are the vaunted screens and picks that the swing offense does?

This "Trevon, dribble at the top of the key for 15 seconds" offense isn't exactly lighting the world on fire.

Can't defend the perimeter... check

Can't rebound... check

Can't defend high screens... check

Can't put a press on or play uptempo while trailing by double digits in the second half... check

I have serious concerns about the effect of Bo Ryan's coaching in this game.

Disappointing that this is going to be Hughes' last game in a Badger uniform; can't recall the last time I've seen him so out-of-sync. (Even against Illinois, he seemed to play okay...just missed his shots.) Fouls out on the perimeter on D, turnovers on offense. Dribbling the ball into the heart of the defense without much of an idea where to go when he gets there.

Cornell has put on an offensive clinic against two of the top defensive teams in college basketball. The Badgers just couldn't score enough to keep pace with them.

Two sweet 16's and an Elite 8 in 9 years is awful?

C'mon. It's not like Bo Ryan has had all-world recruits, and they've gotten hugely unlucky with injuries at tournament time as well (Tucker & Butch getting hurt in different years)

They will rebuild and be just as strong (if not better) next year.

I don't agree at all with this. Leuer could easily be a lottery pick this year, & losing both Bohannon & Hughes will hurt. I think the Badgers will be pretty mediocre next season without big-time breakouts by at least a couple of players.

Leuer stays, Taylor running the show - They have some pretty good recruits coming in......I think this makes the team a little better. But Leuer needs to stay for that to be relevant.

TLB - Nankivil could get better, right? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Big Ten gets two into the Sweet Sixteen. Not bad. Korey Lucious from Michigan State (who hit the game winner) is from Milwaukee.

Hopefully by next season, Leuer and Taylor can figure out how to run a pick and roll. Obviously Hughes and Leuer never figured out how to do it, after watching the last two games.

This game is flat out embarrassing.

I disagree. Obviously the result can look that way, but I wouldn't call the way they played embarrassing.

Through the first 30 minutes of the game Wisconsin was having one of their best offensive games of the season, shooting 56% and 50% from three. However, they were still down by like 20 because Cornell was shooting a ridiculous 64% and 58% from three. The defense wasn't at the regular Wisconsin standard, but I didn't think it was particularly bad. They played well enough to win, but Cornell took it to another level.

In the last 10 minutes Wisconsin missed all 9 threes they took and a bunch of other shots, but that was in desperation as they were trying to make up such a gap with so little time. That's going to make the final box score look uglier than it was.

Honestly, I'm not even mad about this loss. Cornell played so well, they deserved to win. If they play like they did today next week they'll beat Kentucky.

Seriously? Who did they beat in those?

Beat 12 seed Weber State and 13 seed Tulsa (barely, thanks Freddie Owens!)

Beat 11 seed Northern Iowa, 14 seed Bucknell and 10 seed North Carolina State.

Beat 14 seed Cal State Fullerton and 11 seed Kansas State before losing to 10 seed Davidson.

Yeah, really impressive runs to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
