UW certainly not saving their best performances for the last games of the season.

Leuer really bailed out his teammates in that last minute. Hitting the open J to get the lead, getting the stop when Wofford tried to drive past him on a mismatch, and then making the 2 FTs to make it a 4-point lead.

'Survive and Advance' remains in full effect. Go Badgers!

PHEW

There is no excuse for being outrebounded by this team. And there is no reason they should not go inside on the post EVERY time. This is pathetic.

Yeah, what Ben Sheets said. Holy cow was it getting me riled up. Glad to see, though, that Ryan & Co. gameplanned to run so much through Leuer on the offensive end. Nankivil came up with a huge rebound down the stretch (& got blatantly bumped too, but I guess even the refs were rooting for the underdog) on the baseline, so I have to give credit where it's due. It was really terrible how invisible both he & J-Bo were for basically the entire game, though. I didn't even want to see Bohannon on the foul line (when Leuer ended up draining both with ~4 secs. left), which is definitely saying something.

Another concern for me is that our perimeter defense was beaten consistently in the second half, whether through screening or dribble penetration**. You can't keep winning if your bigs constantly have to come off their marks to hold your guards' hands on defense. If the Badgers make it to face UK, playing defense like that would mean losing by like 15 points imo.

** -- I swear the Badgers have the worst combination of [ability to defend high screens]+[ability to utilize high screens on offense]. It drives me insane.

They played that game exactly like they played in the big ten tourney... I wasn't thinking positive thoughts much of the second half.

Is it me, or are all eight courts the same black-and-blue design? Was it like that last year?

The Bradley Center looked *very* empty today. Anyone there today, and give an attendance estimate?

No, they didn't have that last year. I believe the NCAA gave all first and second round host sites courts.

The attendance for the games at the Bradley Center was listed at just under 18,000. No way it was close to that.

Why did Bo play Evans and Jarmusz at the same time at one point? Both are terrible offensive players and Jarmusz is just useless in general. I would question why he plays at all, but the bigger question is how did he get a scholarship?

Jarmusz has been incredibly disappointing the second half of this season. As for questioning his scholarship... He was the high school player of the year! He was good defensively earlier this year--I specifically remember him single-handedly shutting down Manny Harris--but I'm really not sure what has happened. And his offensive game is nonexistant.

The Bradley Center was completely filled for Xavier/Minnesota. It was mostly filled for the beginning of Oak/Pitt, but at the end there couldn't have been more than 2,000 in the building. Props to the Oakland fans -- they were loud and seemed like a fun bunch.

"St. Mary's stuns Villanova for berth in Sweet 16"

Headline on ESPN. If you have watched any basketball this year, how the hell is this "stunning"? Villanova plays four guards. Saint Mary's has a dominating 7 footer who is one of two D1 players to average a 20-10, and Nova has no one to guard him. Villanova hadn't played well in over a month. Saint Mary's had been. This should be stunning to no one.

I had Villanova winning it all in my bracket. It's not that I thought they really would but out of the 70 people who entered ($10) I was the only one picking them which I kind of thought going in. That represented better value for me than competing with 15 other people picking Kentucky or Kansas.

Oh well.

Well, 80% of the country probably lost their National Champion so far today.

With Washington kicking the crap out of New Mexico, this tourney is really making up for the lack of early-round upsets the last couple of years.
