This reminds me of the Randy Moss rumors... it better not end the same way.

I was happy that the Packers didnt get Moss. Didnt the Packers get Jones with the pick that was going to be sent? I forgot now but Im glad it didnt happen.

Paul253,

If we deal Weeks, we'll plug Dillon into the leadoff spot (better leadoff type than Weeks) and at 2nd base (better defensively). In three years Weeks will likely be the far better player. But waiting for Weeks to come around is reminding me a lot of waiting for Corey Patterson to come around

wow, dhonks, that is a spot-on comparison of Weeks and Patterson. Bravo! I hadn't thought of that but you're right!

I keep hoping they do a Laporta / Errecart / Nelson trade for Sabathia and a straight up Weeks for Roberts..

That would be a flippin dream...oh, how I would love that.....

Yes.. I am sure we would have to part with Brantley and/or Braddock but I think both of those trades make sense for both clubs..

We keep 4 top prospects (Gamel, Escobar, Jeffress, Salome).

pitchleague,

I also realize that there's a good chance Weeks could have a sudden turnaround like Brandon Phillips/Jose Guillen, but sometimes I feel that we're watching another Corey Patterson/Alex Escobar.

Remember, Weeks has a career .242 average and .752 OPS. I actually would be tempted to consider Kendall or Hart at leadoff, because Weeks probably is struggling in part because he's hitting leadoff. He looks so lost at the plate that it almost looks like he's trying to fit his game to the leadoff spot rather than just playing his game. But Weeks doesn't walk enough, strikes out too much, and is more afraid of bunting than Podsednik was. I think Weeks could thrive if out of the leadoff spot. I used to not think that, but after watching Hardy's offensive change, I think perhaps the place in the order could impact these guys.

it's funny, I am literally refreshing ESPN and this site every five minutes in anticipation. It seems so imminent . . . . but will probably not go down at all, knowing my luck. It's like watching a woot-off and no bag of crap ever shows up.

If we have offered LaPorta what the heck is Shapiro waiting for? Hard for me to believe anyone is going to offer that kind of player to Indians (Laporta).

He probably figures he has until Monday night to maximize his deal. If I was Melvin I would ask the A's if they want Laporta for Harden... use some leverage the other way.. maybe add Maddux over the weekend to look less desperate..

I think tomorrow may be the perfect time to do this. Cleveland will get their best return if they ship CC right now, so that his new team can use him right away. He would pitch on Sunday or Monday, so if they do it tomorrow, he could get on a plane, get his physical out of the way, etc, and then pitch the next day.

But Weeks doesn't walk enough

How often is enough? He is walking about once every other game this year. His OBP isn't low because of a lack of walks, it's because he is hitting .213.

We need an official update! Although I'll bet DM went to bed without a deal...

I'd bet my life Doug's not in bed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Laporta/Green will be the deal I'm afraid. I'd really like to keep Green.

My most realistic dream deal is LaPorta/Salome/Gillespie. I just don't know if that'll do it.

I never really was that into following trades in the past....can they be announced at all hours of the night? A certain amount of time after games are over? Just wondering if there's any reason to keep checking tonight or if I should just call it a day.
