The Combined 'We're Trading Greinke' Thread (part 3)

It's too bad the White Sox don't have a farm system if they're as eager as has been reported. Simon Castro, Saladino and Carlos Sanchez would all be nice additions to the Brewers' system but they aren't comparable to the guys we've been discussing from other teams.

If you could get Quintana and Sanchez, that's not a bad return.

Do they have anything that could be of interest? I've heard not, but I have to admit I know nothing about the White Sox' system.

PG's recap of their system has the following comment on the guy they rate out at #1 (ahead of Addison Reed): "Lacking a true out pitch, Molina relies on his ability to work ahead and execute his pitches well, his curveball and splitter both flash above average potential, but neither is likely to generate a lot of punch outs in the Majors."

If that's the #1 guy...

I think they misspelled "Parra"...(yeah, Parra's learned to get his Ks, I suppose, but the description struck me)

Just based on online scouting reports/prospect rankings, it seems like that would be a horrendous return. Worse than the comp pick.

I suppose something a little creative could be done too, say Greinke and Weeks for Floyd and Beckham. But that's just wishful thinking on my part (getting someone to take Weeks that is).

What a terrible deal this would be and way to sell low on Rickie. I'd be furious if this deal was what we got for Greinke.

Mike Olt has 26 HR's, 76 RBI's and 56 walks in 87 games (.397 OBP) in AA this year. If we can get Olt and a pitcher like Martin Perez we should consider ourselves lucky

Would the Rangers reconsider dealing Profar if the Brewers offered Greinke, Fiers/Peralta/Thornburg, and Axford/Maldanado? It would be really nice to have an answer at SS.

I think a deal with Feliz or Olt as the centerpiece would also be ideal, though I don't know if the Rangers would do it. It seems the Rangers have too many pieces for something not to get done. Perez would be great in a package, but I don't think we need Martin unless we can only get Perez and need another player.

I guess I would be happy with Feliz, Olt, or Perez and Martin. It would be really nice to get our future SS in this deal though.

Question regarding trading players on the DL, could they be a PTBNL? If so, that would be a way around that.

MLB players cannot be a PTBNL and no you cannot trade players on the DL.

Yeah really slappzilla, give it a rest until there's something even remotely concrete. The only thing posted by credible people right now is the fact that he most likely WON'T be traded ANYWHERE. Texas still wants Greinke and they are trying to play hard ball like I said earlier. They want to overrate their prospects and underrate Greinke in order to pay less for him.

I've read that Profar is the only player in the entire Rangers organization not available. They won't trade Profar. Could be posturing, though. Greinke & Fiers & Axford for Profar though? Maybe, but that sure sounds like too much to give up even for an elite prospect

Second. Floyd is a league average SP at best, which has value, but he's fairly expensive and may have entered his decline phase already. He's exactly the kind of guy the Brewers don't need. Beckham has been horrible in over 1800 MLB PAs. He's only 25, so he still has time to develop, but he hasn't given any indication that he will. Meanwhile, we'd be trading way low on Weeks, at a time when we can well afford to keep running him out there and see if he can sort himself out. He's already bounced back quite a bit from his epically terrible start, and he has a long history of ups and downs. Oh, and as the price of making those three bad moves, we would also sacrifice our huge trade chip? No way.

I think I would if Profar is as good as advertised. And he could probably be up late next year if he continues to play well. We have a little bit of starting depth in the high minors, it would suck to lose some of that but solving SS would be worth it.

I would do that in a heartbeat. Don't think the Rangers would.

He also suggested getting a reliever who's from Wisconsin. That's the last thing the Brewers should be doing. Floyd, Beckham, relievers. Just quantity over quality, all of that.

The only way the Brewers should get a relief pitcher in the deal is if it's a throw in or secondary piece to a primary top prospect. If Melvin does any deal center around a relief pitcher, I may boycott the rest of the season.

Olt's going to FL for Josh Johnson

When you post it like this, it's very misleading because it implies to thread viewers that this has actually occurred, when as of this time it's still just your opinion that this will occur.
