I got tix for Sundays game. Gonna sport my Greinke jersey.

You should wear your Olt Marlins jersey.

or my 2013 Greinke Brewers jersey

You could wear that on Sunday all you would have to do is Macgyver up some duct tape and add the 20 to the (Greinke) 13 on the back of your jersey and boom you have a 2013 jersey.

Is there any doubt that that Brewerfan server is going to crash when a trade actually happens?

When Melvin trades Greinke for Robert Andino and a RP, there will only be stunned silence, then thousands of clicks as browser windows are quietly closed and we all go off to watch the Olympics.

One thing to remember on White Sox/Greinke: They have 10 rookies in big leagues. Trade doesn't have to be for kids in minors.

Hey Danny, that is a horrible thing to say. I insist you take it back. I do not want Jose Quintana or any of Kenny's other assortment of small-sample statistical flukes. Please go back to talking about the Rangers.

seriously. all those guys were in the minors when the white sox were a consensus 30 out of 30 in farm system rankings.

What a knob. A bunch of those rookies are relievers as well.

I just looked up Jose Quintana's stats, and I don't see why you wouldn't take him?

He's 23 years old w/ a minor league career 2.76 ERA, 1.167 whip and more strikeouts than innings pitched. In his first taste of the big leagues he has a 2.58 ERA w/ a 1.057 whip in 76.2 innings. Is it because he's not striking out as many guys in the majors? Or becuase his average fastball velocity is only 90mph?

He must have pretty poor upside though, because nobody ranked him in the top 10-15 prospects in the weakest system in the majors coming into the season. Maybe a nice throw-in, but not as a major piece of a Greinke trade.

To make a very quick and probably not that accurate comparison, he's basically their version of Fiers. Don't get me wrong, I really like Fiers....but they're both guys who have been succeeding without great stuff. They may very well continue to do so, but they probably top out as a #3 or #4 starter. Whereas for Greinke you probably want to get a pitcher with ace potential, or a potential all star bat. I would take Quintana back, but I don't think he's a centerpiece to a deal.

The reason teams are backing down (allegedly) is because the asking price is very high on Greinke. Why would they settle for what the White Sox alone can offer then? Without a 3rd team the CWS don't stand a chance.

Both. I could certainly be wrong about the guy, but his current ERA strikes me as a fluke. He has a K/9 of 5.17, and an xFIP of 4.04. He also wasn't highly thought of as a prospect coming into the year, getting little if any attention despite being in the worst farm system in baseball where you'd think he would standout. That sets off huge red flags for me and given his peripherals in the majors, I'm just not buying him. Granted, you could say similar things about Fiers though his current numbers and peripherals are superior to Quintana's. And as much as I like Fiers, I don't think I'd want to trade Greinke for another team's Fiers.

I will confess that a small part of me wants to see what would happen on the forum if the trade deadline comes and goes and Greinke is still a Brewer.

A very small part of me.

The much larger part of me wants Olt and Grimm for Zack.

Atleast Fiers has shown consistently good K/9 numbers throughout his MILB and MLB career. In terms of prospects; Fiers probably would have rated much higher than Quintana coming into this year.

And you are right; Melvin would be crazy to accept somebody at best the equivalent of Fiers as the centerpiece for Grienke
