2008 Vent Thread (part 5)

twobrewers
Off-topic vent:

Do we need background music/electronic organ music between every freakin' pitch? Do we need to play a player's at-bat song before every single AB? If I have to hear "International Harvestor" or that godawful Moby song one more time, I'm going to scream. Do we really have to play "Hate to Say I Told You So" after every freakin' strikeout? Do we really have to play "Stand Tough" everytime after someone fouls off one two-strike offering? Sorry, it's not entertaining -- it's flatout annoying. Let's keep it to a minimum.

Also, the "Make Some Noise" in every semi-key situation. Miller Park gets loud enough when it matters...this isn't Arizona or Houston where the scoreboard needs to tell us when to cheer.

Maybe it would be better if the organist played a better variety of songs. It seems like by the 9th inning, he's played Hava Nagila so many times I wonder if there's a Bar Mitzvah going on.

Some word of advice, when a pitcher is out there walking people left and right, feel free to take some pitches..cough Braun, Fielder cough.

Speaking of Fielder, if Melvin doesn't insist that Fielder lose 25-40lbs in the off season I will be highly disappointed. You are either blind or in denile if you think that he is the same size that he was as a rookie. The added weight is really effecting his fielding and hitting. His balance is way off when he swings( I was there the night he feel flat on his face swinging).

I was at the game last night so I guess maybe you can take my word for it. Brewers officials were hosting a group from Coors and they got to talking about Fielder. I don't know who the Brewer official was he didn't look fimilar nor did I recognize his name, but he did specifically mention that he wouldn't be suprised and he has heard some rumblings that Fielder is gone next year because of his weight issues. He specifically said Fielder isn't keeping himself in shape and is only in this to get a pay day. So the fact that he isn't staying in shape before getting a pay day might tell you something about the guy if and when he does get paid. I don't know what department the guy was in, I suppose he could have been just talking out of his $(D and really has no inside knowledge at all but I thought I would pass it along

Rickie Weeks. You will not find a coach at any level of organized baseball that would instruct you to try to field a ball the way he did last night. That is why it is hard to remain optimistic about him becoming significantly better on defense. I'm sure the fundamentals of playing 2B have been drilled into him since the moment he signed his first contract, but when it counts he reverts back to that crap. Move your feet! Get in front of the ball!

Offense. I don't know what to say, other than please start clicking soon, or this is going to be a long month. Please turn things around to make this the enjoyable month that all Brewer fans deserve!

I just ask for a hit or two with runners in scoring position.

Sac flies and homers are cool, but a single is just as effective.

Tom H. got it write with his in game blog last night:

"Three up and three down for the Brewers. Guess they figured it was no use getting anyone on base because they don't drive them in. Why bother?"

I agree we all know CC id Due and if he losses tonight this can really snow ball into a mess, especially the way the crew is playing terrible baseball( lack of any type of clutch hitting is going to doom this team)

I really would not be shocked or suprised to See Weeks and Prince moved in seperate deals during the offseason.

My God, when is enough enough? It's practically bad enough that Gagne is still on the dang team, but Ned's insistence on running him out there in crucial situations is a testament to his blinding incompetence that is hindering this team every freaking season.

I have to say it, how is a pitcher with a 6 and half ERA still pitching for a playoff contender down the stretch? I have seen nothing from Gagne all year except the occasional luck that any pitcher gets now and then. Again and again he gets hammered when he goes out there and we just put him out there in a 2-1 game that we HAVE to win. It's politics, no reason he should be on the team except to cover the GM's ass for signing him and it may cost us the playoffs.

It's OK for CC to throw an inordinately high amount of pitches when we're winning a game by a lot, but in a 2-1 game in the midst of a potentially devastating losing streak, he gets lifted for Eric freaking Gagne. Sounds about right.

EDIT: Peavey beat me to it...but the point still stands. I imagine a lot of people are thinking the same thing right about now.
