2008 Vent Thread (part 6)

DougJones43

I was foolish enough to attend the game tonight. Wow. That's 4.5 hours of my life I will never get back, and I didn't really learn anything I wasn't already aware of. The team can't get clutch hits to drive in runs. They can't score without a homerun. Rickie Weeks is an abysmal excuse for a baseball player. Watching him butcher two more routine balls tonight made me want to puke. And Ned Yost...well, what can you really even say anymore? He started Hall again, and let him hit against a bunch of righties. And again, let Counsell and Kendall both bat in the final inning of a 1-run game. Why even have all these call-ups on the roster if we're going to let these two washed up old no-chance-in-hell-at-a-homerun slap hitters bat in these situations?

Whatever. Obviously, nobody in the organization cares enough to put a competent 2B on the field. No team that actually expects to be in the playoffs would continue to trot a pathetic hack like Rickie Weeks out on the field after 4 years. Between his piss-poor hitting, embarrassing defense, and countless mental blunders, he has to be the worst 2B in the league.

Obviously, nobody in the organization has high enough standards to put a competent manager in the dugout either. This problem should have been corrected before the season started. With his monumental collapses, and category-5 diaper filling during the pennant chase last year, no team truly dedicated to winning would have invited this buffoon back to run the team (into the ground) another season. Only the Brewers.

If they don't care, why should I? I don't know why I even bother.

I came here to vent about the beginning of another Yostian collapse, but DJ43 did a superb job of conveying my feelings. Bravo. It looks like Ned has enough bad karma saved up for a thousand lifetimes of collapses. Even if this team squeaks into the playoffs, their embarrassment to hitting, fielding and the game of baseball will only be magnified. Their only hope of actually winning the WS would be if CC, Sheets, and Gallardo can pitch back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back perfect games. Maybe rluz can give us the odds of that happening.

Hey Rickie your so blind, your so blind it blows my mind, hey Rickie... shameful 2B, just shameful.

Weeks is a really, really, really bad baseball player. It's just the truth, he is an awful Major League player. And Prince's month-long crapulence, utter crapulence, has me ready to hurt someone. I'd aim said agression at Prince himself if I thought any Earthly matter stood a chance at penetrating his 11 layers of whaley blubber.

Ha! Whaley Blubber!

You may run like Mays...

If Durham doesn't start tonight, and the majority of nights from here on out, Yost will cement his position as the biggest know-nothing ignoramus manager ever to disgrace the steps of a major league dugout. All Durham did last night was come off the bench ice-cold and put us a position to win a game in which we were sucking a duck (of course they blew it anyway, but it wouldn't have even been close without durham's shot), and all Weeks did was boot two more ground balls whilst flailing wildly with his increasingly impotent bat. Durham has got to be wondering what in hell he has to do to displace a guy with no glove, a batting average on the wrong side of .230, and an OBP that would shame most 7 and 8 hitters, let alone a leadoff guy. Yost's blind loyalty to Weeks is nothing short of stunning.

Why did I burn up a tank of gas and lose precious hours of sleep to witness last nights game? I'm heading for Walt Disney World for 5 days. It is just what I need after putting so much money and time into this franchise. It is the perfect fantasy land to isolate myself from the goings on of the outside world. I will not turn on my computer or turn on the TV at the resort to get baseball updates. I will be back relaxed and refreshed for the start of the Cubs series. I pray that the Brewers get things turned around during that time.

brewmann04[/b]]Enjoy your trip and don't let the brewers bring you down it just another year of not making the playoffs.

Wow, you call yourself a Brewers fan? Honestly we have a 3 game lead. CC on the mound today and on the mound 3 more times. Hopefully 4 wins there. And Sheets is getting his crap together lately. Geez dont give up so damn easy.... We have what it looks like the back end of the Phillies rotation with Thursday's game blank where Hamels would usually pitch, dont know the story behind that one but we do have our 2 3 4 5 pitchers going and they have Moyer, some guy with a 0-0 record, blank, Meyers there #2.... Be optomistic not pesimestic, still got 17 games left, make the best of it. And then we got the playoffs so don't give up already and if you do, dont call yourself a Brewer's fan. Yeah i'm worried but not that worried. This club can't slump this bad for the whole month. Oh yeah did i mention we have the Pirates again this year? Easy 3 wins....

I know this is a vent thread, but why do so many of you guys assume that its impossible for a player to get a hit just because they're 0-whatever so far? FWIW, here's Mike Cameron's line with RISP since 2005:

.302/.396/.554

To keep this post on topic, we sure do have some underperforming relief pitchers!

Vent thread dude. Have you even noticed the Brewers struggles against nobody tomato-can pitchers the last couple years? Some guy with a 0-0 record should spell doom for the crew. The Pirates do not mean 3 easy wins either. Weren't the Padres and Reds supposed to be considered easy wins too? This team has slumped this bad before many times. And some have lasted longer than a month. Fielder has been in a month long slump. Weeks has been in a year long slump. Hall has been in a two year slump. Optimism leads to hopes being met or disappointment. Pessimism leads to expectations being met or happy surprises.

Time to stop blaming the Umps and to a certain extent YOST.

The Players on the field are the ones to blame well everyone but CC and Sheets as of late. They have blew leads failed to excute

failed to field and poor base running are the culprits why this team is fading. No excuses that the team first time in a playoff race or they are to young. They Just are a poor playing team right now.

Lets make that say 'Weeks has been in a career slump'

Sorry for getting biographical, but in the span of 48-hours, my apartment floods, my power goes out, my water goes out, my car gets towed, I get stung by wasps, work goes nuts, my brother overdraws a check card I gave him and all's I want is a relaxing night with the Brewers and a nice steak. Well, the steak was ruined, the beer was warm.

And then came that game, another "just when you think it couldn't get worse," game, part of the waking nightmare that is the Brewers September, another collapse, like and yet unlike other collapses presided over by the Scowling Skip'.

I still want to root for them, really I do. But acceptance is an important part of grief, and seeing the look of doom in that team's eyes tells me all I need to know about how this year is going to end, darkness, bones bleaching in the dust, picked clean of carrion. I can see the snow swirls through the empty Miller Park lots already. All is lost.

Edit: Okay, okay. I'm back. Let's win this one, CC. (Got my prescription re-upped.)

my vent . . . . we won't be having a 100-win season.. . . . AGAIN!

Just a week and a half ago I was amazed that we were still in the mid-fifties in the loss column.

Pirates are 3 easy wins? Not the way they're playing right now. They're still 2 weeks away, who knows where we'll be at that point?

Besides, I'm sure a lot of people thought 4 games vs San Diego would net at least 3 wins and also 2 wins (at worst) against Cincy (who have played mighty well in the spoiler role so far this month.)

in the past 4 weeks, Jason Kendell (1) has more home run than Prince Fielder (0).

I'd have bet my year's salary back in February that this would not occur in August/September when Prince has done a lot of damage in the past (well, last year, at least.)

This team's offensive approach right now might be the worst I've ever seen. Good example today after walking Durham to load the bases with one out, Hardy who's already grounded out twice (one a DP), goes after a sinker down and in on the first pitch.

This team's offensive IQ is in single digits.

I always liked Jim Skaalen, but he needs to go.
Please tell us what he is doing wrong? Again you can only lead the horse to water, you cant make it drink. The hitting coach is the appendix of the coaching world.
What has he done to keep his job? Do you think the team would all be hitting over .280 if they only just did everything he says?

I'm not saying that the problem resides with him, far from it, but his job performance can be measured in few ways, and unfortunately for Jim, those ways aren't reflecting well for him right now.
