What's NOT bugging you? (2013 – 2019)

hawing
I officially have a new job in my field that actually requires my MBA. I will now be able to experience luxuries such as living without roommates, going out for dinner, and not having to check my bank account before I purchase a bottle of soda at the gas station. Living the dream...

Congrats!!!

just moved to North Carolina for the third time. my friends here have now moved on, but i think it's mainly because i love the weather here. good weather is important to me. sure hope the third time's the charm. i've got about five months to find out until my summer-temporary job ends.

Good luck. Hope the move is successful and things work out better for you than they did in Wisconsin.

thanks, guys. i ended up making $24K pre-tax over that summer, so it paid my credit card and gave me $4K in savings so i'd even be able to take a $7.75/hr job in another state. now i've got a better shot at landing a full-time gig this summer, otherwise i'll just wait out the winter and try again. always nice to have a more-set direction (despite plans never actually working out that way).

If you don't make it there, at least you'll never be saddled with the regret that most humans are, the woeful regret of not having taken a shot.

If you do make it there, you'll have great stories for the grandchildren someday ("Why, I walked barefoot in the snow to get to NC... 3 times!").

I personally believe that you're going to make it as you're clearly too hard-headed to give up. And I mean that in a good way. Carry on.

I'm getting my first pair of actual Jordans today. I never got a pair when I was a kid, too expensive for my parents. I honestly feel like a kid again, I'm so excited.

Went with the white/red V's.

I usually save my glee for the Pamplona festival, but this newspaper story gave me great joy:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/video-3-matadors-gored-bulls-article-1.1801764

Three matadors taken out by 2 bulls. One of the bulls took down two guys, like when Andre the Giant used to fight tag teams at the same time.

My dream is to have one bull skewer two guys on each horn, and then deposit all four of them in the front row of the arena.

Ole!

I've decided to go away from civilization this weekend, and I am really excited about it.

Porcupine Mountain State Park here I come, backpack and all.

Enjoy Balkin! I have always admired people that have no fear of being out in the "elements" like that. I'm sure that there is a lot of beauty to be seen out there.

My idea of roughing it is a hotel with basic cable and slightly low water pressure.

My gosh do I love tailgating. Great weather, good friends, good drinks, and some brats and italians soon to be on the grill....

Time to head to the ballpark!

PAMPLONA!

There is so much to love in the article that I posted below.

Beyond the annual pilgrimage of men dressed up like bus boys.

Nevermind that while they call it "running with the bulls", it's really "running away from the bulls".

Nevermind that this clown actually wrote a book (and that other clowns actually bought the book), where he gives hints and pointers on not getting gored, and he was the one who was gored.

Forget about the part where he's "described as one of the best bull runners in America", as if they have their own AP rankings, and he's the Mike Krzyzewski of the bus boys.

The very best part of this story OF COURSE--is that he's from Chicago.

'Buffalo' Bill Hillmann, Author of Pamplona Bull Run Guide, Gets Gored

A Chicago author who penned a guide to surviving Pamplona's famous bull run should perhaps have read his own work more closely, given that he was gored on Wednesday. "Buffalo" Bill Hillmann is described as one of the best bull runners in America and co-wrote the influential guide "How to Survive the Bulls of Pamplona." But the bulls clearly have no respect for such honors, and 32-year-old Hillmann was gored in the leg after he tripped during Wednesday's morning run, according to the website Sanfermin.com. Alexander Fiske-Harrison, one of Hillmann’s co-authors, wrote on his blog that his injured friend was doing well after surgery.

Hillman was one of several people injured Wednesday, the most serious of whom was a man gored in the thorax and taken to hospital in a semi-conscious state, according to Reuters. Dozens of people are injured each year in the eight-day “Fiesta de San Fermin,” which despite continued criticism from animal-rights groups annually attracts hordes of tourists to Pamplona. Since 1924, 15 people have died in the event.

I was promoted to Jedi Master, at least on the scoreboard at the Brewers game on Sunday!

Ahhh, I saw that! I didn't realize it was you, but I did take a photo of it. Let me know if you would like me to send it to you.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Congrats from a 1980 grad!

That team was loaded with pitching. One of their pitching stars, Luke Sommerfeld, is the son of Kent Sommerfeld (executive producer for Brewer radio broadcasts). He's going to play college ball at St. Louis and their other big pitcher, Elijah Goodman, is going to UWM. It will be fun to follow their college careers.
