CM Punk; WWE Has Me Hooked Again (2012 Official Pro Wrestling Thread)

BrewCrewForever

I imagine Brad Maddox will be involved in the stable as well. Roman Reigns doesn't really fit in, though. He looks like a million bucks, but he is sub-par in the ring.

EDIT: To clarify, you've got Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins who are both really good workers, but small in size. Neither have the cookie cutter look that WWE loves so much. Reigns is the opposite. He has a fantastic look. He reminds me of a young Rock. However, he doesn't have anywhere near the wrestling or mic skills The Rock had after a couple years in the business.

Either way, WWE has me interested again. I'll probably DVR Raw for the first time in about a year. I'm curious about the motive for the attack on Ryback. The most common theory I've read is that Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns are jealous Ryback made it out of WWE Developmental purgatory.

wwe really backed themselves in a corner by having the rock get a title fight at the royal rumble. they clearly don't want ryback to lose any momentum and they clearly want punk to fight the rock in January. you really can't serve 2 masters. they probably have to come up with another way for ryback to lose dirty next month at TLC. that being said i'm glad that punk looks free and clear to have the title for a full year, it never mad sense having the title bounce around as ofter as it did in years past.

I wouldn't even say for sure that Ryback vs. Punk is penciled in for TLC. I could see WWE running something with Foley vs Punk at TLC. They still have there respect feud thing going and I couldn't think of a better way to end it, then in a Tables match at TLC.

Big Show vs. Sheamus in a Chairs match is a given after how last night went.

i hope not, when they do that garbage it makes for a terrible main event and really deflates all of the momentum in the arena. remember just how awful over the limit was with Laurinaitis vs Cena as the main event. Foley is fine for attitude era nostalgia but doesn't belong on a ppv against the WWE's top guy.

I look forward to seeing people moan about the FCW guys just being geeks for Ryback to beat up. Of course they are. They have a couple months to fill for Ryback until Punk drops the title. Then Ryback can destroy Punk at Mania. It will probably be too late for him, though, since he will have already failed three times by then and at Mania the belt won't (or shouldn't) be on the line.

while things can chance over the next few weeks, wwe aired a comercial for TLC in new york yesterday and advertised these 3 matches

Tables Match: WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Ryback

TLC Match: John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler

Chairs Match: World Hwt. Champion Big Show vs. Sheamus

i think all 3 matches make sense based on what happened yesterday. The only thing i wonder about is this Cena fake injury angle, which may cause the Ziggler fight to not go down. Even though he is getting an MRI today, i'm assuming it has to be fake since the locker room fight would not have happened if it was legit.

I posted that before RAW yesterday and yeah I believe those 3 matches seem about right now. I do think Cena rolled his ankle getting out of the ring yesterday and WWE just decided to roll with a injury storyline. There's no way Ryback comes out of that match as WWE Champion. I do however see Cena winning TLC, but Ziggler cashing in MITB. A potential Ziggler © vs. Orton at Wrestlemania wouldn't be too bad for the World Title.

  • 2 weeks later...

I get it that it's the flat part of the chair delivered to a flat back, but every time I see a chairshot like Ryback on Punk tonight, I think that's got to hurt a lot.

Besides that, these 3-hour Raws are just too much for me to take. So many matches just to fill time, too much Vickie, too many flashbacks. I may give it a rest for a couple of months, just to take a wrestling break.

I want to like watching, but lately it seems to be an endless slog every Monday.

Iron? Machete? Both great choices.

This is awesome in so many ways. I can understand why some people hate the Briscoe Brothers, but I find their schtick entertaining. They cut some of the best promos in the business.

I like the few times a year when the Briscoes get to have good wrestling matches, because they are really good wrestlers as well as being good characters. You going to ROH at Turner in January?

i don't want to be the guy that complains every tuesday morning, but i started raw at 9 and made up the first 2 hrs in about 35 minutes. it has become very predictable and stale. i am already over this shield angle unless they dramatically change it up. we all knew that they were breaking up the lie detector test.

Apparently CM Punk underwent emergency surgery on his knee today. No other details available at this point. Can't imagine he'll be recovered enough to compete in the PPV in two weeks. I wonder what they're going to do with this.

Wasn't it last Monday that he was really holding his knee as if it was actually hurt?

he had been wresting with bad knees for a while now.

just saw this tidbit that he will not be able to wrestle at TLC

http://www.24wrestling.com/update-on-cm-punks-surgery-his-status-for-tlc/

i am guessing the main even now could be some sort of 6 man match with team hell no and ryback against the shield. i know it would be odd for them to have a high profile match without even really fighting in WWE yet but it would peak peoples interests atleast.

Idk, I'm a big fan of Ziggler. I think he and Cena will have a great match. Big Show and Sheamus is kind of played out. I'm looking forward to seeing The Shield. Don't really care about the US Title match, but the IC Title one with Barrett and Kofi could be good. There's also a Tables match with Sin Cara and Mysterio vs. Sandow and Rhodes, so that could actually be interesting. Not the best PPV, but not the worst either. I think there will be some good matches.

Ziggler is my favorite, but I think the best thing for business would be to give Cena the briefcase so he can use it vs Rock. I would have Ryback win the Rumble and challenge Big Show at Mania and be the new top guy on Smackdown after he beats him. If things broke right, Ryback could get hot enough that they could turn Orton finally.

Everything is certainly pointing toward Ziggler winning on Sunday, though, and Cena doesn't really need any gimmicks to challenge Rock at Mania.

overall i thought the ppv was pretty good last night, obviously the match between ryback team hell no vs the shield stole the evening. i kind of had a feeling AJ was going to screw Cena once she came on at the end of the match. i'm sure it will be because he screwed her chance of being the GM over their alleged affair.
