CM Punk; WWE Has Me Hooked Again (2012 Official Pro Wrestling Thread)

BrewCrewForever
I think this whole NWO reunion thing would just be like the DX reunion on Raw and nothing more than that. None of those guys can really do anything in the ring anymore. It's really not news. Just something Nash and Bischoff mentioned that they'd like to see happen. WWE does need a new stable though. I think that's a good idea. They'd probably mess up the booking like they did with Nexus though. Evolution was probably the last good stable in WWE.

They can't even call themselves the NWO. The WWE owns the right to the name. I can't see it happening.

On a positive note, Chikara Pro is coming to Milwaukee on August 17th. I had to work when ROH came to town, but I am off for the Chikara Pro show. My 9-year old son isn't really into wrestling, but I think he would like Chikara with all of their crazy characters.

The show is at the Miramar. The only match announced is Quack vs. Colt Cabana. The semis for the annual Young Lions tourney will also take place.

last night was there first big test as it was the first regular 3 hr RAW. I do like that the extra hour allows the 9pm and 10 pm main event matches to go a little longer, which they took advantage of with a good cena - show and miz/ziggler vs christian/jericho tag match. The extra filler I could do without. They showed footage of the pre-show fire 4 times, had an three awkward Bryan psychiatrist segments too.

I also enjoyed the Sheamus/Bryan street fight. I hope they do stuff like that more often from now on. The tag was very good as well. I like the 3 hours so far, because it allows for more matches and longer matches. There will obviously always be the fillers and other crap, but I care more about seeing more of everything else. I never watch live anyways, so I just fast forward through all the clips and all that crap like I always do.

wwe has up on their site that booker t is the new smackdown gm. #1 i feel that the time for gm's is over. They really serve little purpose. #2 if they need a GM, a heel one is best. I loved when the michael cole reading the anonymous gm's emails and johnny ace could have got the entire arena up in arms. I don't see AJ or booker t being able to do that.

Not sure if any of you guys saw this, but Nash and Jericho got in a bit of a twitter feud. It was over Nash's dumb comments saying that the wrestling industry died when Guerrero and Benoit were both champs at the end of WM 20. I think that's an absolute joke, so I definitely side with Jericho on this one. Jericho really nailed him with a few good ones. The last remark I found absolutely hilarious.

“Funny how @realkevinnash says wrestling “died” when Benoit and Guerrero were champs-Yet the worst year for WWE biz was 95 when he was on top.”

“Hope @realkevinnash doesn’t tear his quad tweeting! #typicalbigman #nwothirdwheel.”

Yeah, Nash is sort of right, but he's the wrong guy to be saying it since he was the worst drawing WWF champ until JBL and his awfulness came along to take that title. Small guys have never drawn in WWE, and that's a fact. Michaels and Hart didn't do well, either. Punk hasn't done much, either. He's not saying "the work died" (of course, those two guys in the ring died, and it didn't help that they took massive amounts of drugs to try to get big enough). He's saying that the business hasn't come back, and he's right that it has been weak. He's especially right about guys like Punk and Bryan not being over in the mainstream. Punk is going to look like an indy geek when Rock pins him and when they are in the same ring with their gear on.

Also, though, the counter point is that they have never given it to smaller guys for a real prolonged period. Right now, Cena is still the top guy - and the freakin' Big Show is in the semi-main event of one of their biggest shows. The main event is two completely jacked up monsters - and the master of the quad tear, Triple H. Vince himself may be the master of the quad tear, though, since he is the only guy I have ever seen tear BOTH of them at the same time.

Like you said, the real problem is that even though a guy like Punk has held the title for a prolonged period and yet Cena is still main eventing all of the PPV's. If Punk is the champ, he needs to be the in the main event, and get the chance to get over like Cena. Maybe they purposely did it to lead to his heel turn, but I think that's only a partial excuse. If they actually want guys like Punk and Bryan to get completely over and become absolute stars, they need to book them that way.

Greg Gagne, Jim Brunzell, and Baron Von Raschke were on Bob and Brian last week promoting their appearance at the State Fair. The interview is on their podcast page and also available on ITunes. It's a fun listen. Baron is in his 70s, yet he is still very quick-witted and very funny.

anyone else notice that the last 3 weeks since AJ took over RAW has started the same way, 3 or 4 wrestlers get into it to start the show and she comes out to make the main event a 3 man, tag team, or fatal 4 way match. this is like Teddy Long on Smackdown all over again.

The matches seem to be better since RAW went 3 hrs as they main event ones have more time allotted to them.

Hasn't that the way it's been for quite a few years now?

Did anyone else find it hilarious that the guy who got the most heat in the main event tag match was the only guy who's supposed to be a face? Bryan and Punk got cheers, Show not much of anything but Cena got booed. Love it.

WWE.com still has Romines Highpockets and Spirits showing the PPVs.

Thanks. Yeah I think I seen Romines awhile back. Didn’t know about Spirits. A place in Menomonee Falls and a place in Sussex (both closer to me) used to get them. But that was back in like 04’ to 06’ish.

I think Krueger's in the Falls used to get it but I doubt they still do.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

I had a great time at the Chikara show on Friday night. Outside of Wrestlemania 22, this was the most fun I've ever had at a live wrestling show. The crowd was loud and energetic all night. Great wrestling mixed with great comedy. If Chikara comes back, they need to pick a bigger venue. The Miramar Theater is tiny, and it was packed. Fans up front learned quickly to get out of their seat because many of the wrestlers ended up in the front row after dives to the outside.

Does anyone know any other bars/restaurants in the Milwaukee area that will be showing Summerslam tonight? The only one I know is Romines but it's pretty far from my house and I didn't really enjoy it last time. I live in Waukesha and would really prefer to stay in this area if possible...just don't really know any places to go. Anyone?

It's great that they drew a nice crowd. ROH ended up doing alright, as well. They had a really strong walk-up crowd.
