CM Punk; WWE Has Me Hooked Again (2012 Official Pro Wrestling Thread)

I thought The Rock's promo tonight was finally like his old self again. I enjoyed it. Got some other thoughts on Raw though. Thought the opening with Punk and Y2J was great as usual. Kane vs. Show was pointless, but the angle with Cody was good. Otunga vs. Santino was a waste of time. It was good to see Ryder back, but having him job to Bryan wasn't the best return. I hope he's on Team Long at Mania though. I'm really enjoying Daniel Bryan and his angle with AJ. It's really getting him over. I hate where they're going with The Miz. Why? Because he'll likely be booked to interfere in the Rock/Cena math, which would suck big time. The tag match was pointless, as was all the wrestling on the show basically. The ending promo was alright, but I feel like they could be doing a lot better job. I guess the Taker/HHH match kinda builds itself though anyway. I really hope they don't drop the ball on the go home show next week.

But seriously, while I agree it would stupid, it would make sense. Rock got involved in the Cena/Miz match last year and it would fit Miz's character perfectly to try and take the spotlight away from those two. Also, wouldn't Miz costing either of those two the match instantly make him the most hated heel in the WWE?

I don't ever like ending Wrestlemania with a non-clean finish. And Miz is sooooo cold right now. I don't think anything short of supremely drastic (like storyline breaking Cena's neck or something) would get him over enough to be the top heel, and that might even be pushing it. He has go away heat happening right now. He needs a vacation and some time off of TV to help freshen him up a little bit. They should have babyfaced him instead of Truth when they broke up, to begin with.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miz joined Team Teddy Long. I'm guessing the last guy Laurinitias will add will be Alberto Del Rio. Leaving Miz upset and joining Team Long.

Khali being in a WM match is inexcusable. So many guys who are much more deserving. It'll take him 6 minutes just to hobble down to the ring on that long entranceway...

Agreed, Khali is worthless. Don't understand why he was brought back to begin with. This JL/Long match is stupid to begin with, but then Long's team is also incredibly horrible. Even if Mysterio joins that team, it's still not believable that they could win. As far as Miz, I wouldn't mind him turning face and being on Long's team, but I think he'd have to be a last minute add and then actually win Long the match to complete the turn. That won't happen.

BTW, idk if anyone saw this, but A-Train has signed with WWE and is coming back after Mania. That Lord Tensai promo last night was for him. I've heard rave reviews of him from Japan, so he has a chance to succeed this time around. Theirs rumors he'll be Johnny's henchman and then get a big push.

I could see Miz costing Cena the match, giving Rock the win, and setting up a new feud for Cena. Then Cena/Rock 2 either at SummerSlam or WrestleMania 29. Depends on if they decide to do a best of 3 or not. I've heard that's what they are planning on doing.

I was saying Albert and Cena will feud. Cena is like Hogan now where you just give him a generic monster guy to beat, I think.

Just seems like such a waste with Orton. I generally am interested in his matches, and this makes that less so. I really never care about Cena's matches, so this would be a good fit for him, I guess. It also keeps him away from the good workers and lets them wrestle each other and have good matches.

Why the heck are they calling Albert "Lord Tensai?" Is this going to be like the gimmick Terry Funk was supposed to get years ago where he was in Japan so long that he thought he was Japanese?

I don't understand the Lord Tensai gimmick either. In the teaser he has japanese symbols all over his head an stuff. Not sure why he can't just be himself again. Maybe not called A-Train, but still be a normal guy.

Man he looks horrible there. He also looks really weird bald. It's gonna be weird to see him wrestle like that.

I thought he was looking a little swollen in the recent promos with Triple H and HBK.

 

They have him wearing that stupid executioner's hoodie to conceal his new found fatness.

 

I hope is in better shape for Wrestlemania. Wouldn't want to have his legacy spoiled.

Either way I hope beating Triple H is his last match. He doesn't need to be one of those guys that has a bunch of embarrassing matches just to hang around.

I think he will win and retire, or at least that's what I hope. He's done such a good job of protecting his character, so hopefully it doesn't get messed up after this year.

Everything I've read says he's not anywhere near wanting to retire. People believe he'll keep doing the once-a-year matches for awhile still. I would say that it's highly unlikely that he'll retire. I feel that they'd hype that a lot if he had already decided that too. I think he'll stick around for a few more still. Still think he'll face Cena at some point.

The guy can barely walk at this point, so I would hope he's ready to retire soon. I would think there will be a lot of ugliness in the HHH match that may make him say that he's done.

Doubtful. Pretty sure he enjoys coming around once a year for a huge payday. Who wouldn't? He can handle one match a year. Personally, I'd like to see him retire. I just don't see it happening. Maybe he'll retire at Wrestlemania 30.

In other news, it seems like a Miz/Foley twitter war could be underway. Foley is teasing being the last member of Team Long also. I also heard ADR is not gonna be the last member of Team JL, so maybe they give Miz that slot. Then they could set up a Miz/Foley feud. Foley could help Miz get back to relevance, and the next PPV is Extreme Rules so I could see them having a good Falls Count Anywhere match or something. Foley is the King of Hardcore after all.

kind of a blah final raw before wrestlemania. adding boker t as the final member of team teddy. will be interesting to see who replaces christain since he was ruled out.
