2007 Vent Thread, Part 2

Pretty sure he left the game because of the pain he was in from pitching through a painful line drive off his knee. I mean give me a break this is the most foolish thing I've seen in a while.

Sorry, but the two innings he pitched (looking pretty good) lead me to believe that he was okay until he started, you know, putting runners on base. I mean, he batted and continued to pitch. If you want to believe that the knee was the sole reason why he came out, that's fine. You're wrong, but that's fine. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yes I'm sure they pulled him after 70 pitches because he let two guys on, it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the line drive off his knee, just like I"m sure yesterday Capuano didn't leave early because of his injury and I"m sure Sheets didn't leave his game earlier this year because of his groin after finishing the inning. Give me a break.

So much for being able to trust "any pitcher" with a 4 run lead.

I still think this was Ned's way to tell the powers that be he needs another good bullpen arm. lol

I'm trying to stay calm right now but there are 2 things that really worry me about this outing.

1. Turnbow is mentally vulnerable. I don't want to use the word weak but this is how it started last year. Yost should know better than to throw him into that situation. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason he shouldn't have started that inning. NONE.

2. Why are you warming Cordero to watch the go ahead run come in? Why are you warming him at all. He did this with TB last year which is what, in my opinion, helped him slide. They call a closer a closer for a reason. You gonna start bringing him in in 7th too? That's why there are multiple people in the bullpen. They also call someone a left handed specialist for a reason.

Extremely hard to watch. 1 game. Yes. But I hope I'm not talking to a buddy about this one in a meaningless game in September.

There were two on with no one out. The meat of the order was coming up. For all his faults, Ned may have made a really good move there, because Bush's propensity for giving up the big inning was about to be put to the test.

Didn't watch yesterday's game. No idea what happened except that we got our rears kicked pretty good in the eighth.

As for Sheets, according to the articles about the game, you're dead wrong. Here's one:

Quote:
Sheets pitched three scoreless innings before leaving. In the bottom of the third, he reached down to tag out Ryan Theriot at third base but actually got the injury after the final pitch of the inning on a chilly and damp 44-degree day.

Not only did Bush finish the inning where he got whacked, but he batted and pitched another inning. Again, I don't think that the injury was the ONLY reason he came out. Look at the circumstances that Wise entered the game in. That had "Bush's big blowup" written all over it until Wise came on.

Turnbow pitched bad. They lost. It was bound to happen at one point or another this year.

Oh well, life goes on. I haven't done psychoanalysis on Turnbow, so I'm not going to forecast a collapse. I think he just had a bad game and was rusty from not having worked for a while.

The season isn't over, and this game will have no more lasting effect than if they would have been blown out. Live to play another day.

I think Yost did good not pitching Coco in the 8th, it is a long season, you guys have a nice lead and to have your closer pitch 2 innings so early in the year is not smart.

Now, Turnbow should had started the 8th, not Shouse, that was a mistake for sure.

About Bush, he was taken probably because of the line drive.

Now, i do see a problem with the relievers for the Brewers, you guys need a reliable set up men.

don"t look now but it the Astros are in the crew Rear view Mirror.

Were you expecting them to put the division away in May? It's a long season of up's and down's. They were bound to lose a few games. It doesn't change the fact that they're a solid team. The Phillies are pretty good.

No One said that the brewers were going to put this division away in may! they are a solid team but a solid team should not blow 4 runs leads in the 8th. we see what type of heart they have in the next 3 games.tonight was a real bad loss for the psyc of this team.

maybe they will prove to be real and take this series

Well, after tonight, I won't gripe nearly as much after a tough loss. Losses don't get much worse than this one. I'm not stoked for tomorrow's game; I am worried about another heartbreaking loss. Vargas is due to get rocked.

I don't understand the thinking behind warming up Cordero if Yost didn't plan on using him. Bases loaded, 1 out, still leading by 2 seems like a good place to bring in the closer. It doesn't do much good trying to save the closer for a game that can't be saved.

What the hell was I thinking. This is all my fault. I watched every pitch of the game. My friend wanted to play Guitar Hero, soI decided that the game was over because Turnbow was in. I check in between songs only to see Prince ground out to end the game. What the hell!?

I'm sorry...
