2007 Vent Thread, Part 2

Patrick425

I guess that's what I don't get. Why is it no good to hit a 2 run HR? Then Hardy's up and can hit a solo, or even better get on base for Prince to hit a 2 run walk-off. I mean, Graffanino really shouldn't pinch hit before Hall.

i agree...i'm just saying, I'm sure what I said is what yost was probably thinking.

Jose Capellan will save us from Chris Spurling and Elmer Dessens. (I've never been a big fan of Capellan, but I put that in blue anyway, hahaha)

well, I was DEAD on.

Last night in the chat room I questioned why use Wise in a 4-run game instead of Capellan. Then I stated that Ned probably prefers to see what Cappy can do in close game instead, since he tends to "challenge" players to see if they are "up to the task."

Capellan would have been perfect for last night and Wise would've been better suited for tonight. I could see it coming from a mile away, too. I haven't read the IGT yet, but I'd reckon that most posters thought "same old Capellan" when he gave up the first run.

My wife and I started debating bringing him in in close games like last year. She said that he was pretty reliable but not always. I countered with "I just seem to remember too many times that he'd come in and give up a long ball to put us down." I kid you not, next pitch to Willingham after I said that was flying into the bullpen. I nearly threw the remote at the TV.

I'll also vent about why not walk Cabrera in the 6th (or whatever inning that was) with first base open and one out? I think that was just as big a mistake as bringing Latin Cappy in the game. No homer from Cabrera and a K to Willingham and ground out by whoever was next (Boone?) means it stays a 1-0 game (in theory) and the bullpen "aces" (Wise, Turnbow, Cordero) close it out.

Finally, very disheartening to see the "same old Brewers" at the plate tonight. They probably all looked the stats and saw that big .400 vs LHB in Kim's line and smacked their lips thinking it was going to be easy pickings. Well, guys, you need to actually keep your heads in there and make solid contact not swing for the fences and get jammed on changeups and okay sliders. Probably will happen tomorrow with the "predominant-righty" lineup that will be drooling about the .304 vs RHB in Willis' stats line.

So glad I "wasted" a gorgeous night to watch that. I feel bad for those that paid to see it in person.

Why is it necessary to start all of your left handed batters?

And why does Gwynn get the start again? Yes I know side armed righty on the mound but man Hart has been hot and isn't that why Gwynn got so many starts in the first place? To "ride the hot hand?"

So what does Gwynn do? A single to right and 4 weak groundouts.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

This is classic second guessing though, you walk Cabrera and still face a really good hitter who just as likely drives both of them in. I don't like that IBB at all.

As for Wise pitching with a 4-0 lead, I agree with you there. That was the perfect time to get capellan in there so Coco could clean up his mistakes.

Once again the Yost is to balme for every loss, and none of the wins crowd, can't seem to reconcile teh fact that sometimes you lose.

As for not using Hall to PH, he was in and out of the the On-Deck circle the entire 9th, but they weren't going to use him unless solebody else got one first - the correct decision. When you need 3 runs, is it really smarter to play to have to hit 2 HRs vs. one? Of course not. Until you represent the tying run, your job is to get on base. That's baseball 101. Do you guys complaining want Bill Hall out there just to get on-base? The correct decision was made there - get two guys on then rip one.

As far as Hart not starting goes, that was explained quite well also. RH's don't hit at all against Kim, and LH's don't hit againt Willis who is going today. Getting a couple of left handed hitters in there was the correct decision as well (Hart came in pretty handy off the bench too). The (lack of) results by the RH hitters that were in there should provide plenty of evidence why.

Why use Capellan? Weren't many other options. For the 100th time, Wise, Turbow, and CoCO cannot pitch every game. Something thet seems to be conveniently lost on those intent on finding ways to blame the manager for each and every loss.
