Milwaukee Bucks Thread 2009–2010 (part 1)

I remember thinking in the first quarter that Jennings was going to be cold all night. Whoops. The 3rd quarter was absolutely insane. It makes that 3rd quarter against the Pistons look pedestrian by comparison. When Redd comes back, look out for the Bucks.

We need to trade Redd.... this team is playing very well, we don't need another wing player that jacks up 30 shots a night and plays no defense. Jennings/Bogut could be one of the best duos in the league this season.

FYP. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Gotta have the alpha dog in front, my friend. This has been so fun to watch. Either Monday or Wednesday, I'm gonna head down to the BC to sit courtside.

If I'm Hammond, I'm desperately trying to get a player that's around Bogut's level impact wise. Personally, I'd love to swing a trade for Kevin Love. Him and Jennings are tight. He'd also make us an absolute powerhouse on the boards, and he'd be a much better option to pick and pop with Jennings because he can shoot the J a lot better than Bogut. Everything's available outside of Bogues, Jennings, LRMAM, and Ilyasova. Any ideas?

Great googly-moogly. Only 3 points from the all-time rookie record in his 7th game.

Meeks showing he's no slouch either, and LRMAM grabs 12 boards. What do you need Love for when you have LRMAM? This team might just have become... interesting.

LRMAM isn't a big body, he just plays big. Great player, but he's A LOT different than Love. Excellent guy to come off the bench each night, play 30 min, and guard the best scorer. But if he's gonna be playing extended minutes at the 4 this year, I think he's gonna get worn down.

I mention Love for several reasons. He'd fit into Skiles and Hammonds system/vision, he can start at the 4 and back up Bogut at the 5, and Gadz and Elson are the only other players of size we have on this team. I don't like that. Ilyasova is a bigger guy, but he's a finesse player offensively.

I still say that LRMAM is very comparable to Tayshaun Prince at least defensively LRMAM is very comparable to Prince. Both of them are great defenders and good rebounders for their positions. I'm just hoping LRMAM can become as good as Prince is offensively now that would be something special.

After the game last night I am beyond excited about the Bucks but it's taking one step further. With word that the salary cap may drop to the low 50 million dollar range, we can 100% expect that it will be impossible to move redd this year, since he will absolutely be claiming his player option. With only Bogut locked up for big money going into the summer of 2011, we are going to be a player in what could be the real big free agent spending spree. Everyone is lined up for 2010, but with the salary cap dropping so significantly, I just dont see a lot of multi-year, max contracts being available. Unless most of the guys re-up with their current teams, there will be a good deal of short term deals signed with hopes of improved economics in 2011 or 2012. Letting Sessions and Villanueva go now makes a ton more sense.

Used as option number #3, Redd could have a nice role on this team. Playing the weak-side wing off that high pick-and-roll or as a zone buster...if he chooses to accept it...
Yup, if he realizes this is Jennings and Bogut's team he could be a very good weapon. He just can't be putting up 25 shots a night and holding the ball and trying to create his own shot all the time when he has the ball.

"I thought I was in great offensive rebound position every time," Bogut joked. "I was waiting for it to come off the rim, and it just kept going straight through. I could have padded the stats a little bit if he missed one or two of them."

Bogut really needs to get more exposure

Id like to see Redd go too because I know that once he comes back this week, the offense is going to slow down and have to go though him, and Bogut is not going to have that big of a roll in the offense has he has been having. I don't like Bell at the 2 spot either, but he seems to know his roll, which has kept the offense moving.

Not really a Bucks fan, but I enjoy following them. What do you guys think they should do with Redd? Should they trade him this year and what kind of a return would he net?
Depends on how the team is doing at the deadline. I'm a bigger fan of Redd as a player than most (and the idea that he doesn't play defense is outdated IMO), but I still think it makes the most sense to move him if possible. However, if the Bucks are in a position for a top-4 seed in the playoffs, keeping him would make some sense. I don't think Redd is a natural ballhog, I think that in the past, he took the most shots because that's what the team needed.
Maggette looks 'roided-up.
Yep, I thought the same thing.

Does the NBA test for steroids? If not I bet a ton of guys use them. Dwight Howard looks like he was made in a giant shoulder person factory.

I am going to be attending my first game in three years tonight. I have to admit that work is footing the bill because the Business Journal is sponsoring a speaker series with Mark Cuban tonight, but still I wouldn't be attending if Brandon Jennings wasn't on this team.

Tonight should be a good indicator of where this team is. Dallas will most likely not allow Jennings to get wide open jump shots, he is going to have to be a driver and distributor tonight. I think this will be the one game they lose on this homestand although I won't be shocked if they pull it out.

As a Mavericks fan, I can tell you that I will not be shocked if Milwaukee wins this game. Dallas always seems to have trouble in Milwaukee plus they just played last night and they are not a young team anymore. Jennings will be running circles around Barea or Kidd or whoever guards him. The only chance the Mavs have of containing Jennings is if they put the rookie Beaubois on him. He's really fast too, but still raw defensively. Should be a good game.

Stopping a guy like Jennings is based alot more on positional team defense than whoever is supposed to be guarding him. Not too many individuals can stop that kind of quickness. Golden State basically played no defense whatsoever. The Mavs generally play a little softer zoneish defense and position themselves well traditionally. I agree that he'll have to distribute more and others will have to step up their scoring. Bogut and Ilaysova in particular.
