Milwaukee Bucks Thread 2009–2010 (part 1)

If the Bucks stay healthy they could get the #7 or a long shot a #6 seed. I would rather see Redd stay healthy the whole season and the Bucks not in contention of making the playoffs and trading Redd away during the trade deadline for an expiring and (I can dream) a 1st round draft pick.

Who really is ahead of the Bucks talent wise for the 6-8 seeds? You have Detroit, Philly, and Chicago. You could even add Miami into the mix along with some lower teams like New Jersey and Indiana. The 5th seed last year had a record of 43-39. If the Bucks finish 42-40 that is the 6th seed in the East if the past has been any indicator of the talent level in the East compared to the West.

Even if the Bucks finish with a 41-41 record that should be good enough for the 7th seed. If they finish 39-43 that should leave them in contention for the 8th seed. The East is still rather weak compared to the West.

I still want the Bucks not to be anywhere near contending this year. I know that sounds like I am down on the Bucks but I just believe it is time to start over and get rid of some of the bigger contracts the Bucks have that can be moved. Redd should be moved this trade deadline even if the Bucks are in it for the 8th seed.

Bear with me here, I'm always overly optimistic at the start of all of my teams' seasons, but...

I just can't see where all of the pessimism comes from, this team should definitely be better than last season. They won 34 games *without* their two best players. Since then, they've upgraded significantly at PF, and should be roughly the same production-wise at SF. We lost a very good PG, but he didn't even play half of the available minutes at the position. Our 08/09 roster was terrible, but still managed a somewhat respectable season. Look at the garbage we put out there:

Gadzuric

Elson

Allen

Croshere

Alexander

Bell

Bogans

Jones

Lue

Gill

Only four of these players are still here, and most of them are going to be in the "DNP - Coach's decision" club. Our roster is almost entirely useful players now, the improvement in depth is insane. If everyone stays healthy (a big if, admittedly), there's no reason why the Bucks shouldn't be aiming for a 4th or 5th seed.

No, I don't work for the Bucks' PR dept.

The difference between a 4th, 5th, or 6th seed in the East is not that much especially between the 5th and 6th seed. I don't think the Bucks have a shot at the 4th seed but the 5/6 and 7th are strong possibilities if the Bucks are fully healthy. If the Bucks lose Redd to injury they still could get the 8th seed.

Bucks play the 1st game of the season tonight at 6 against the Sixers. I'm very excited to see how this team looks. I expect them to have some rough patches early in the season, but eventually be a good team. I'm pumped to see Brandon Jennings get his first taste of the NBA regular season. Go Bucks!

going tomorrow, won't be able to watch tonight but im excited to see finally what Jennings can do. I think its the right move to start Jennings over Ridnour day 1 as Luke has no future with this club and is still only an average PG at best.

I like Luke Ridnour. He's not a star, but he could still be a solid backup PG. The short (and long) term future of the Bucks depends heavily on the success of Brandon Jennings. I'd love to see him in the hunt for ROY. It would keep things interesting down the stretch if the Bucks are out of the playoff picture. Go Bucks!

Awesome game for Jennings!

17 pts. He hit 2 three's and a couple really long two's wiht his foot on the line.

9 assists. Probably could of had 11 or 12 if we knew how to hit a open shot.

9 rebounds. This suprised me.

I always knew he could but man can Jennings fly. He had a fast break were he went, right left, right left, lay up while going coast to coast in a blink of a eye. He also made a couple really nice passes.

Redd didnt look bad considering this was his first real game coming off of ACL. He did miss a couple wide open shots however.

Andrew Bogut looked terrible. Missing lay ups. Getting beat. He ended up with 8 pts and 6 rebounds, pretty disapointing.

Couldn't find Kurt Thomas with a search light.

Warrick looked... alright I suppose. Missed a couple bunnies however.

Ilyasova likes to shoot. He looked really really nervous out there. Like he was trying to do everything way to fast.

Sucks to lose by 13 points, but I thought we saw a couple good signs in the game. We are a young team and at times its going to be frustrating. Hopefully we can get jacked up for the home opener tonight. Already becoming a huge fan of Jennings.

When I checked the live box score halfway through the 2nd quarter, Brandon Jennings had 10 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. All I could think about was triple double. Obviously, the Bucks chances of winning a division title or NBA championship this year are slim to none. I need little victories to keep me optimistic like Jennings making a run at ROY and Mbah a Moute playing in the Rookie / Sophomore game or making the All-Defensive Team.

Last night just proved why for the first time in years I am excited for the Bucks season, and it is all because of Brandon Jennings. Kid is electric. To almost get a triple double in your first NBA game, that is pretty impressive. Too bad Bogut played so bad.

Folks, we have a superstar in the making in Jennings.

He scored 16 in the 3rd, including 11 out of 13 for the Bucks and a highlight reel lay up.

He also played some real nice D at times. If only we could hit wide open shots.

This is the most excited i have been about the bucks in a long time.

Wow, that third quarter was very impressive. I'm really hoping that Jennings can be the shot in the arm that finally make them relevant to the casual fan again.

I hate to see Redd reinjuring his knee, hopefully it won't be too serious.

Sessions had many games over the years as good or better than we've seen from Jennings. He's been very good for a rookie, but is very slight and looks like he'll have a difficult time staying healthy. Ersan looked solid both games, and as expected, Warrick did too.

Redd's injury is bothersome, and Bogut looks to be unhealthy...looks uncomfortable and laying on the floor stretching while on the bench. They have the potential to be a 6/7/8 seed, but they could easily suffer some injuries and win 25 games.

One thing I thought of tonight was Ridnour must be as good as any backup point guard in the league. If Jennings stays on the court, you'd think several teams would want Luke at the deadline.

Ersan looked solid both games

I didn't see last night's game, but I did see the season opener. I've really had high hopes for Ersan when we drafted him and now that he's back...I thought he played pretty bad in the season opener. I guess he just looked really awkward to me. I was disappointed...at least in that game.

I dont think Sessions ever looked as good as Jennings has these past few games. And just because he is "slight" it doesn't mean he will have a tough time staying healthy. Or does he have a past history of injury problems???

I also think Ersan has looked better compared with his last stint with the Bucks, but far from "Solid"

Did anyone else see the pregame introductions? The had guest announcers from around Milwaukee and the lady announced Jennings as Brad Jennings. It was a very cringeworthy moment.

I thought Ersan looked very good last night, and a little lost and nervous on opening night. I think once his shot starts falling he is going to be a big part of this team. I also really like what I see from Warrick.

The whole thing was cringe worthy. Just a terrible idea by whoever came up with it.

They gave a nod to a couple of big sponsers with it and I don't think it ruined the evening by any means. The intro didnt play out nearly as bad as you guys are playing it out to be. A couple of them actually did an awesome job with the police officer and the military guy getting some huge applause
