What's bugging you? (2007)

Banks bug me especially Mid-America/St. Francis.....

I was looking at the pictures from the Brewers game on Sunday. They are the ones the Brewers take want you to buy from their website. So I can't stand the people who flash peace signs, eastside, westside, northside or what other hand gesture at the camera, and then have some goofy look on their face. What is this?

Today my wife and I went to run some errands, including dropping off some bills in the various drop boxes around town. After we arrive at our final stop, however, we get in line behind two vehicles and wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, the woman in the front vehicle leans out the car and drops her bill into the box--with pen in hand.

So, obviously, she was writing out her bills when she got to the front of the line. What's more, she drove away but did a u-turn and got back in line behind the now 4 cars in line. Apparently, she had more bills to write out.

C'mon people. Do the actual writing of checks at home if you're going to use the drop box. Making people wait 10-20 times as long as they should at a drop box bugs me alot.

When I hear from people how busy or stressed they are. Um... get in line? Unless I'm related to you and have to care...get over yourself. Want stress? Try being on the space shuttle that has a fracken hole in it, or the miners in Utah...or be in Iraq...

2-a-day football practices.

I find napping inbetween helps with the irritation... that and well, there's so much to teach.

we don't get to nap. we go from 7 AM to 1-1:30 PM. We get a 1/2 hr lunch break at about 10:30-11:00, and then we go back out for the second half. Luckily, this is the last week of 2-a-days for us.

I find it somewhat humorous that all these people that have gotten banned from here seem to write letters to the staffers saying how they are happy to be gone because the community sucks and blah, blah, blah. Only to go on and grind their axe about this site on other message boards. Obviously it means something to them, which presents the question, if it meant so much to you, why jepardize the privilige of being part of the community in the first place? It's sad to me that people think they have all these inherent "rights"... they aren't rights at all, they are priviliges, and far too many people fail to understand or comprehend the difference.

this chick gets 5 months in jail for murdering her husband. Shooting him in the back.

I know guys who have served more time for DUI. This is a travesty of justice. What a horrible precedent. If things are bad at home, go ahead shoot him -- five months later you will be out of jail.

It was lovely day, one day, when Geoff Jenkins was on the bench (you know, one of Neds rest days) about three years ago; Geoff was on a white hot streak (and Ned was resting him); we were behind one run in a game in the 8th inning; a Mouton was up; it was the switch hitting Mouton who batted about .100 v righties; a rightie was pitching; we had guys on 2nd and 3rd; Ned did not pinch hit Jenks; Mouton popped up, the next guy also got out; I was very critical of Ned, in the game thread; Brian told me to not be critical of Ned; I told Brian if he defended that move he must be a member of Ned's family; Brian told me to not point out flaws in Ned's managing; I told Brian I would post what I liked re his managing; Brian banned me

Now he's crazy, an idiot, and a liar. Mouton, huh? Yeah, that was 2001 Hoffy. I came here in early 2003 and he was here well after I began posting. Now, maybe that was the first time he was banned, but I know for certain he was a member of the board way after the Mouton era.

MLB.com bugs the hell out of me.

• It has a ridiculous amount of Flash and glitzy crap, at the expense of basic functionality.

• They made Gameday so complex and heavy, that it uses up a disgustingly large portion of the CPU. I just want an up-to-date play by play of what's happening. I don't give a crap about pitch trajectories, or fancy animations, or that obnoxiously imposing ad in the bottom right corner.

• They apparently don't care about their message boards whatsoever. If I worked for MLB in any respect, I would be ashamed to have something so shoddily managed as that to be associated with me.

• The Gameday Audio subscription is sketchy as hell. When purchasing a subscription, they give you 14 issues of Sports Illustrated for free. Handily, there's a automatic renewal system for Gameday Audio so that you don't have to worry about purchasing it again when it runs out. Shadily, this renewal system appears to also apply to the SI 'subscription' as well. So, when your 14 free issues run out, SI automatically signs you up for a full year, using the credit card info you provided for the Gameday Audio. And unless you send an email to some vague address saying that you don't want them helping themselves to your money, this will happen again and again every year.

Yeah, so.... Ned started managing in 2003. There were no Moutons on the roster past 2001. I swear, the story gets better every time.

Here's what happened. Hoffy was a guy with a history of thread hijacking and condescending remarks. Yes, the thing that IS correct was that he was banned after saying that if someone held a particular opinion, they most be a member of Ned's family. It was one remark in a long list of such condescending remarks over a long period of time, and I was sick of it. Obviously, there are many people (myself included from time to time) who criticize Ned or Ned's decisions, so the argument doesn't hold any water whatsoever.

So, for the past two years, he posts threads about Brewerfan.net (or one of the very clever alternative names for the site) and brings up our site in replies to threads, including the statement that he's banned from the site for reasons that get more impressive all the time. 2 years. 2 years complaining about a message board.

So then, he started pasting quotes from Brewerfan.net users and making fun of them at the JSOnline boards, so I banned his IPs from viewing the site. Obviously, there are ways around it (that he knows about and we talked about in an email thread), but this was his little way of trying to "rally" any support against the site so that he can somehow feel we was unjustly removed from the site. Predictably, it backfired.... So I'm sure he'll show up in a new venue to keep the pursuit of justice alive.

That thread over there is hilarious. Other posters' comments that made me laugh:

Hoffy, you sound like a jilted ex-boyfriend who wants his buddies to keep tabs on what the chick is doing. A bit disturbing.

LOL!

Good thing for us we have a university sporter to advise us childish country bumpkins about baseball.

Worldly, what does that mean. That you've been to Perth?

brewers19,

I've had automatic renewal of gameday audio for a few years now and have never had the sports illustrated subscription added on to my existing subscription, nor automatically charged to my card. Interesting why you have. Hopefully, you're checking up on that. I'll have to keep my eye on that one next spring when it renews.

I read that thread, Brian, and was reading with a big ol' smile as it just got funnier and funnier. I seem to remember Hoffy on this board even when I joined in 2004, so he's WAYYYYY off.

It would be interesting to see (and place bets) if you would contact him with a "truce" and let him join the site again, giving him strict rules and such that he would have to agree to, just to see how fast he'd drop those rules and be banned again.

I remember he really knew his stuff about baseball, though.

Oh, and that whole diatribe about his life (his CV in that jsonline board link)! Wow, what blather! Trying to impress people by being pompous and egotistical is no way to impress people.

My favorite part had to be "think that is called plagerism (kind of ryhmes with totalitarianism, doesnt it)".

He should probably try spelling things correctly before trying out rhyming schemes (plagiarism not plagerism), maybe that's how he got it to rhyme.

And I even will read stuff from that tainted place if it will make my mind think and ponder.

That is a nice quote.

Quit tainting our place Brian!, and quit making my mind think and ponder! -- I just want more pictures of shocked looking animals!

The Worlds Oldest Person dying bothers me..

That's about as newsworthy as the worlds youngest person being born. WHO CARES! That is what they are suppose to do - DIE. They were 114, of course they freaking died. And in another month the next oldest person will die.

fair-weather Brewers fans. I'm getting sick and tired of people saying, "the Brewers are done...they're not going to the playoffs....they're playing like crap....they don't deserve to go to the playoffs...etc" I'm sad to say that some of these 'fair-weather' fans are some of my good friends, too.

I think the JS Online membership has absolutely figured out why Hoffy was banned from this site. The only thing that was missing in the responses was that Brewerfan's membership donates money for him to be able to read these forums.

On a side note, I'm absolutely pleased that Brewerfan's membership doesn't abuse the forum quote feature like people do over there. Because there are good posters over there, I can read past the cussing and condescension. Reading through long nested quotes to find a one-line response drives me crazy, though.

b19 is right on about mlb.com. I called to complain this spring because their main page wouldn't load, thus preventing me from getting to the Gameday Audio link. All the techie could say was that mlb.com was a 'media rich' site and that slow loads were to be expected.

He didn't get it when I suggested that the media was fine, but that some of it could be put behind links rather than all loading on one page. All he could say (again) was that mlb.com was a 'media-rich' site. The topper, however, was when he told me that I ought to be able to get 90K speed off of a dial-up connection. Yeah, right.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
