What's bugging you? (2008)

So I was hanging out on our front porch, reading the paper, and all of a sudden it smells like cigar smoke.

I looked out and didn't see anyone at first. Then I noticed a guy sitting on our retaining wall, yakking on his cell phone and puffing a stogie. Not anyone we recognized (i.e. not a neighbor). He left before we had a chance to ask him to move along.

How rude is that? The ironic thing is that cell phone reception on our block is notoriously crappy, so I don't know how the guy had a signal at all.

You'll get your revenge when he gets brain cancer from the phone, and mouth and lung cancer from the cigar!

Any chance he was drinking Chinese baby formula from a Nalgene water bottle?

You see, it all evens out. . .

What's a retaining wall?

Those 'Viva Viagra' commercials hurt my soul.

On the same subject. Those cash4gold.com commercials are horrible. Just brutally forced acting. In fact, I'm not sure you can call that acting. I've seen middle schoolers act better than that.

People that go 24 MPH in an 25MPH zone. In a 25MPH zone you should be going 30 MPH. Maybe I am just impatient.
Completely agree. Although I'm always cautious in small towns. My brother lived in Kewauskum for a while and there was always a cop parked in the church parking lot as you entered the town off of Hwy 45. My brother would warned me not to go over 25, because "Barney Fife" would stop me.

WIBA sports was bugging me this morning. They often play radio highlights (or lowlights) of the previous day's Brewer game, and I had braced myself this morning for Bob's call of the Soto HR...and instead it was the Hughes/Santo call on WGN. Fortunately my reflexes were awake enough at 6:15 to lunge for the radio and turn it off.

Is it too much to hope that a Brewers Radio Network affiliate could refrain from additional kicks to Brewers fans while they're already down?

Hawing, that was really pissing me off this morning.

It seems that when the Brewers have good highlights, they never play them, but then this morning...all Pat Hughes and Santo screaming like a girl at a boy band concert.

You know what else? At least once a week they replay the sports report from the previous morning. They did it this week the day after Sally Sheets left the game in the 2nd. The following day, the report (Posick) indicated Sheets would be pitching that night in game 2. I know they likely tape the every 15 minutes updates, but is it a lot to ask thay they are at least current?

If it was Brian Posick's recorded/replayed report, then it was probably ESPN1070 you heard, not WIBA.

We happened to have the day off when the Sabathia signing was announced, so I had 1070 on, and they started playing what was obviously the previous Friday's report ("The Brewers start a three-game series hosting Pittsburgh tonight at Miller Park..."). That gave me a start, until "live" Posick cut in and said, sorry, that was last Friday's report.

I know the stations are related; just nit picking, plus reliving a memory of another repeated sports report that bugged me.

Posted on page 43 of this thread:
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published the Al's Runs results in this morning's paper. Only they list the Top 100 overall and not the Top 50 or 100 by gender. So the top 92 men and only top 8 women were listed.

I guess if you're a female athlete in Milwaukee you're not worth as much.

One year later and the same garbage, only this time accompanied with a terrible photo and a poorly written article. A real nice cat-and-mouse race was shaping up in the women's division which I was able to witness from 50 meters back. You'd never know from reading the summary. Our sport deserves better than this.

Not to mention 15K+ people massed in one area for a cause and the MJS barely acknowledges it. Oh yeah, they weren't one of the sponsors.

BTW, we were walking in it for our two year old, a special needs kid who spent most of his first year at Children's and still goes there regularly. We were the ones in darker tie-dyed shirts towards the end of the walk.

EDIT: spelling

I work with a crazy person. I have to work closely with her. She has informed me that I need to go online less -- twice in a week (and I definitely have been much more vigilant about it). She's not my supervisor. I'm getting my work done. We're very slow right now. We'd had a conversation about the slowness of work not long ago and I mentioned that I'd be happy to help with anything I could. I'm not doing anything inappropriate. I've only been there four months. It's really too soon to hate my job already.

Another work related bug: I have a customer (my #2 of 30 customers) that has been named a "maneater" by her coworkers. She is in a position of power with her company and she has turned in to my worst nightmare. Seriously, I am considering a career change because of customers like her. Right now, I would rather have several teeth removed without being numbed or knocked out than go meet with her. Ugh...

I hate it when I get to a sporting event early. I'm sitting in my seat watching batting practice, warm ups, just enjoying the scenery...whatever and the person in front of me decides he wants to get up and stand for about 10 minutes just looking around aimlessly for no reason at all. It would be odd to ask him to sit down since the game has not started yet. However, at the same time I don't really want to sit and stare at his backside. Don't people have any awareness of their surroundings at all?
