The Wisconsin State Journal, which continues its journey over the shark with its latest "enhancements" unveiled today. The paper is even narrower than it was before (the "new industry standard"), the comics will soon be illegible to the naked eye, and local bylines are increasingly rare (OK, so that last bit isn't new today)...but hey, they're accommodating readers by putting the obituaries in a bigger font.

I am a longtime fan of newspapers, but if that is the best print product they can put out anymore, just go internet-only already.

It's always better to hear it before/during even if it's a bit painful, then having 40 people come up to you once the relationship is over telling you how happy they are you're free of that relationship. Speaking from experience having been where your friend is, I appreciated the few people that were willing to be honest with me up front and over the years I've grown to value those friendships more than the others. Sometimes it's true, we really miss what's happening right in front of our own eyes, and I'd rather surround myself with people who have guts enough to tell me I'm full of crap... which is quite often obviously.

trying to sort out all my bobble heads, nesting dolls, etc. on the little shelf space that I have. With all the Brewer ones and Diamondback ones, some had to go in the place of prominence (living room) while the rest have been relegated to whatever available space I can scrounge up elsewhere (computer room). Guess which ones received the place of prominence?

the dork in Miami that is constantly blowing his whistle during the USA-PR game. I keep looking up from my computer to turn and look at the television, thinking a referee is blowing a play dead with a delay of game penalty.

I finally relented and paid for my own membership at REI this weekend, after years of mooching off the S.O.'s membership.

I purposely left the email field blank on the application, yet I got an email from them tonight, at an address that does not readily appear in directories. I'm not pleased.

Is it just me, or is the J-S just maddeningly stupid?

Apparently the Town of Brookfield lost an appeal today to the City of Brookfield in an annexation dispute. And how does the J-S choose to publicize the end result of this dispute? With this headline:

Court backs Brookfield in annexation dispute

This affects me in no way whatsoever on a personal level, I'd just appreciate a modicum of higher standards from the state's biggest news entity.

Yesterday I was getting into my car when i noticed the neighbor lady slip on the ice and fall on her back. Thinking I would be nice, I told her to go sit down and I would finish for her. As I am almost done, i slip on the ice. Trying to catch myself so that I didnt do a faceplant, i stretched my arm in front of me. Unfortunately I still hit my chin on the ice, not realizing for about 2 minutes that I was gushing blood, until i finished the job and looked into my rearview mirror to see my neck covered in blood. I went to the ER which was empty at 8:00 on a Monday morning, with only one other patient and plenty of doctors around, it still took 2 hours for four stitches. Then to top it off, I had to go up in front of an audience with a huge band-aid on my chin, and explain to 30 different people who asked what happened. Also being an Education Major, every student wants to know. Gotta love telling the same story over and over and over.

Inconsistent/Inaccurate blackouts of sports games

Last night's explanations:

1) According to our records, it should be showing on the MLB Network.... well it's not!

2) Then it's because it is being shown on a regional sports channel.... well it's not!

3) Then it's because it is a home game that didn't sell out... well it's not!

4) Sorry, that it was blacked out to everyone in your team's area.... well it's not!

Any more discussion about a possible cuss filter-free immunity day coming anytime soon?

I'll 2nd this complaint. I don't even have MLB Network and Dish Network wasn't carrying the game. I was looking forward to seeing Looper and most of the regulars for the first time this year but nope someone somewhere dropped the ball last night. I hope we don't have any repeat occurences in the regular season. I am sure as soon as FSN decided to carry a Bucks game over a Brewers game I will once again get pissed.

The guy from the Woodman's commercial tilts me. Real bad.
You don't like Phil Woodman?

a: Coworkers who consistently show up late for work.

b: Management that is either apathetic or nonplussed about some of their employees consistently showing up late for work.

c: This Sunday's Wrestlemania is being billed by the WWE as the "25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania!" when it's actually the 24th anniversary. It's the 25th Wrestlemania.

d: This year's Wrestlemania is going to suck, so I'm not going to watch it. This will be the first time in about 10 years I'm not going to watch it.

I was a pretty big wrestling dork during the Attitude Era, and actually started watching again fairly recently (because I'm still a dork at heart). The only two things really enticing to me about this year's WrestleMania is Undertaker/Michaels (even though it's a given Undertaker will win, the match should at least be entertaining), and the HHH/Orton feud. Everything else I'm pretty indifferent on, and the Chris Jericho vs WWE Legends feud has been pretty disappointing overall. Had my hopes on Steve Austin coming back for one last match since he's getting inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, but it looks like that match will just be a crapfest that ends with Mickey Rourke interfering.

Another thing that bugs me -- April Fool's jokes. I thought I was old enough to not have to worry about this stuff, but apparently not. I got a call from the girlfriend this morning saying that it looked like someone picked one of the locks to her apartment this morning, and there were reports of a break-in in an apartment on the floor below hers. After about 10 minutes of worried coversation (do I need to drop everything today and come out to make sure everything's fine? Is the super able to replace the lock? Is she sure nothing's missing from the apartment?), she tells me April Fool's. I did not appreciate this.

The fact that there is now an actual "Ryan Braun injury" thread in the major league forums. I just don't like the looks of having that thread title.

I'm displeased with the digital converter box I got from Best Buy. It's necessary to stand up to use the remote control.

Judging by his obnoxious commercials, absolutely not.

As long as he keeps my grocery bills 20-30% lower than other stores in Madison, he can be as obnoxious as he wants, IMO.
