What's bugging you? (2009)

Could be the alternator dude.

Who's the alternator dude? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

An alternator is meant to keep a battery charged and power the electrical systems in your car. It is not meant to fully charge a battery. If your battery lost it's charge, you will have to get it charged.

true, but a new battery should not lose it's charge in three weeks.
You are right, but I would check the battery first unless it was replaced recently. A battery will not lose it's charge normally unless the alternator is broken or the battery is old.

Luckily for me, we have a battery charger where I work so I don't have to pay to get my battery checked. If my battery is ever dead, I charge my battery while I wok and have one of the maintenance guys check and see if it holds a charge. If you have any friends or friendly neighbors that work on cars(or I would guess farmers for their tractors) they might have one. Has to be the right voltage though.

Risotto, it's rice. My wife makes it now and then. She says, "look, I made risotto." "Looks like rice to me honey."

This weather is bugging me big time

It's supposed to be summer, the few decent months of weather in Wisconsin's miserable climate and yet, it's been damn near freezing out the last two nights. It was colder in Wisconsin yesterday than anywhere else in the country. Ugggggg!!

Maybe my frustration over how terrible the weather has been during this socalled "summer" that it has my memory off, but it seems like there have been more days with highs in the 60's than 80's since summer began? Now the hell of about six months or longer of fall and especially winter are right around the corner, about nine months of not being able to put on shorts. Just the thought of it is already bringing down my mood.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

You may be right, and that's why for me it's been the best summer ever weather-wise.

I've really enjoyed this summer also and plan on wearing my shorts well into November like I always do. I thought the weather this past weekend was ideal, but I know most people don't agree with me.

I remember a few weeks back when we had a couple days in the 90's, people were complaining then, too. I think people just like to complain about the weather in general.

Usually for me, anywhere between about 55 and 85 is OK. So I've thought this summer has been good, overall.

Not me, i love it hot outside. Obviously i'd prefer it to be say about 80-85 and dry, but i'm fine with it being in the 90's. I'm different from most folks who live in Wisconsin though. I think most people who live here are so used to the weather being cool to downright cold for so much of each year that they just don't feel comfortable when it gets hot outside. I'm the reverse, once the temperature gets under 70 degrees, i'm not pleased. If i had my way, it would be 80-85 almost every day with no clouds to block the delicious hot sun.

This puts me in a real dilemma. I badly want to move somewhere warmer, but pretty much everyone i know lives here in Wisconsin, including my daughter. Moving somewhere and not knowing anyone along with my family all being here in Wisconsin except for my brother makes moving hard for me to actually do. Stay here and face weather i find miserable for 9 months each year or move somewhere warm, but not be near my family and friends. Each option sucks big time. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

I have been away from Wisconsin since 1998, and just recently got word that we would be moving back sometime in 2010, quite likely in the summer, giving us a chance to get our daughter into her local school in time for 1st grade. It's been fun being lots of places, but there's no place like home.

We've been in warmer climates, but they don't make up for being away from siblings, cousins, parents, in-laws, etc.

Yea Jim, that's why i haven't moved yet. As much as i would love to be in warm weather most of a year, spending say holidays away from friends/family along with at other times seems like it would be hard. I'll likely just have to suck it up and deal with what i find to be a miserable climate here in Wisconsin. It's so hard for me though when it's 30 degrees or less here and i know that in other places it's sunny and warm, knowing that i could be there. It actually depresses me somewhat once summer ends and i know that it won't be back for about nine months because feeling the warm/hot sun is almost like a drug for me. One thing that would be odd though is to spend Christmas someone and have it be hot outside, that's about the only time i like the winter feel.

living in Arizona = awesome weather year round.

living in Arizona at Christmas time = suckitude, since you're always the one to spend big money on airfare for family get-togethers. (this also applies to weddings, funerals, and reunions.)

i moved to North Carolina from Wisconsin three years ago. more than even the weather, the biggest thing i miss is the general culture of Wisconsin and the way people talk and act around each other. i notice the differences more and more the longer i'm down here. i think if one were thinking about moving, that's the biggest thing that should be considered.

it's been pretty rough here with this Southern culture. it's hard when you never really fit in.

for the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas are the worst times. it's impossible money-wise to fly home for Thanksgiving and then three weeks later, fly home again for Christmas. eating a lonely Christmas dinner at Hooters last year was one of the worst experiences of my life. the nice thing, though, is that the one or two weeks of December cold in Wisconsin is sure easy to put up with when you're going home to warmth.

The Yuku bug that takes you to a blank page isntead of the first new reply might be the single most irritating issue in Yuku. I used have specific threads that were an issue, now the problem seems to have spread. Though maybe it's because I'm reading topics that are more than 5 pages with 50 posts per page... I wonder if the bug is tied to the # of posts, hidden posts, and deleted posts in a thread. Regardless it's been well over a year, it's about time they fix this annoying issue.

It's a terrible bug, and I agree with you that it's Yuku's most annoying issue. It celebrated its first birthday a couple of weeks ago. It has to do with hidden posts. I took a look at the administrative log; we're hiding at the rate of about a post per day, and they're scattered around various threads. That's no more than usual.

The Mozilla back button bug, which has been around since early June of 2008, has been knocked out of a tie for first place in the annoyance standings. When the back or reload buttons were hit in Mozilla browsers, this bug caused Yuku pages to reload from the top rather than returning to the user's last position on a page. Actually, from what I know, nobody's fixed the bug. It's just that it doesn't affect Firefox 3.5.

My big concern is that Yuku's current focus is to give us new profiles that give us improved social networking features. Board search engines go down daily, and because developers are busy on other projects (i.e. profiles), people have to go weeks or months without being able to search.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

i'll get my car battery tomorrow. i'm almost positive it's just the battery. i might only drive the car for a 30-minute drive every other week. so otherwise it just sits out in the hot sun all day, and that heat does nothing but drain the battery. same thing happened when i first drove the car off the dealership lot.

i've got a fruit-fly problem in my place. this is going to mean always washing my dishes right away instead of letting them sit for a day or so. maybe it's good that i'll hopefully develop the habit of always keeping the kitchen clean. last night's "moving rice" was truly disgusting.

Really? What don't you like about it so far? I haven't really noticed any major differences with it so far, but haven't really played around with it a lot yet. Just looks like they made it a bitt prettier and added some new features I'll probably never use.

My computer is almost six years old and strains under the weight of newer versions of programs. Nonetheless, like a sucker, I always give in to curiosity and download the update - and without fail, the updated version taxes my system to the brink of death. Plus, there's inevitably a handful of new insufferable features and/or the absence of once indispensable ones, all which make me yearn for the previous version. And all I really want from my computer is basic and solid functionality. So when Apple takes nice little iTunes 8 and turns it into the swollen behemoth that is iTunes 9, I have to spend the next hour fighting my operating system and its stubbornness in letting me revert back to a previous version. Whereupon I discover that, in the whole 30 minutes that iTunes 9 was on my computer, it decided to take the initiative of tweaking my music library so that iTunes 8 can no longer access it.

Most damning was the fact that the green 'zoom' bubble no longer shrank the window down to the mini controller, but rather arbitrarily resized the window and moved it randomly around the screen. And I didn't like the new Music Store.

I'm rarely happier with how my computer functions after an update.

I bought Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets this past Saturday. I wanted to get (4) 2nd level tickets that were advertised for $45 each. I have always sat in the upper deck and I wanted to see what it would be like to be a little closer. I didn't want to pay $56/ticket to be on the ground level.

Anyways I got to checkout at Ticketmaster and all of a sudden those $45 tickets had turned into $70 tickets. What a joke. A $10/ticket facility fee and a couple others fees increased the advertised cost of the ticket by over 50%!!

Needless to say I cancelled that order and went back and get upper level tickets which still came out at $34/ticket (advertised at $25)

I don't know if Ticketmaster pulls that on all concert tickets or if it is just a Bradley Center thing but it is a joke. A $10 facility fee!!! Seriously, its the frickin Bradley Center for Petes Sake.
